"I absolutely loved Erika. She was very personable and outgoing. Despite my relatively reserved/shy personality, I did not feel uncomfortable. I usually have a hard time finding a good stylist because I have thick naturally wavy hair and 0 desire to do anything but put it up and maybe brush it. Erika really worked with me to teach me about how to put my hair up better to protect my baby hairs. She also taught me about specific things my hair was doing and how to better care for it (dry scalp, a lot of new growth, etc). She took the time to explain different types of styles that would work for what I wanted. I especially appreciated how she asked what type of styling I preferred. More than 90% of the time, stylists just slap my hair down with a flat iron and I feel gross and naked afterward. I wanted to try for a walk-in, so I headed over and it was empty. It looked closed, but they do "walk in reservations" which just means you give them a call and if someone is available, they drive down and open up the shop for you. It felt like a private experience which was really cool (especially in pandemic). When I called, I asked for a trim to touch up my long layers and to remove some weight. Little did I know that 1 year of growth does not equal a trim. When we were done, I'm pretty sure there was 3 lbs of hair no longer attached to me. It ended up filling the dust pan 2.5 times. I felt SO much better. I was waiting a couple weeks to post my review to make sure that when it grew out and settled, my hair would still look fabulous, and I think it does! Despite almost doubling the expected time for the cut and style, I still only paid $75. I will definitely be coming back once my hair is ready for a big donation chop."
