Dr. Amisha C. Upadhyaya, DDS

"Overall, my visits to Dr. Upadhyaya's office were very negative. My dentist of 12 years retired last year and I found Dr. Upadhyaya in my dental plan's network. She seemed to have great reviews, so I thought I'd try her office out, despite not having a personal recommendation. The first time I went in for a cleaning, she was efficient and accommodating. She told me that if it were her, she would recommend getting my one wisdom tooth pulled but ultimately that it was up to me to decide. My wisdom tooth grew in 9 years ago and has never caused me any pain or discomfort. I got my cleaning and said no to getting my wisdom tooth removed. I did not think the office was very up-to-date with equipment and was nervous that it wasn't in the most-safe area of Santa Ana, but that didn't really bother me so much. She told me I had to get a root canal done, and that's when I found out my Blue Shield Dental PPO had a 6-month waiting period. I was able to get on my partner's Beam Dental insurance through his employer in order to get all the necessary services done, and then cancelled my Blue Shield coverage. She sent me to an endodontist that felt so pushy and salesy, that I wouldn't want to go back there again. When I went back to Dr. Upadhyaya's office to get x-rays for my crown, they told me they've had issues with Beam Dental "not paying" them. They did not tell me they wouldn't accept this insurance or want to work with me as a patient as a result. I go in for my x-rays, and all of a sudden, she's telling me I "have" to get my wisdom tooth removed BEFORE she could get my crown done. I was visibly upset and started pushing back. That's when she eased up and said she'd do the crown, and then I'd need to get the wisdom tooth removed. Her office does the wisdom tooth removal, so of course, this is an opportunity for them to pocket off of a procedure I didn't feel was necessary. I work as a health insurance agent, so I've seen this countless times but never had it happen directly to me until that moment. They told me they'd send in the X-Rays and once they were approved I could get the crown. Each week I followed up with Danny, the office manager. Each week he told he they were still "waiting for the approval." I finally got fed up and called Beam Dental directly and guess what? They had NEVER received any authorizations from Dr. Upadhyaya's office. It had been 6 weeks at that point since I had gotten the root canal and a temporary filling. Had I not called on my own, I wouldn't have ever known they never did what they said they would. Luckily, I found another office that took care of me in Mission Viejo (and that dentist did not pressure me to take out my wisdom tooth like Dr. Upadhyaya did). The whole experience was very disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this dentist's office to anyone, especially if you have Beam Dental."

"Dr. Amisha is very kind and gentle. I have extremely sensitive teeth and HATE going to the dentist; yet she always makes the experience a positive one. She is always very informative and gives options.. Plus they are open late during the week and on Saturdays which is great for most people who work the usual 9-5 shift. I highly recommend her!"

"Dentist's Office is one place I shudder to go. And then the typical experience is that they rip you off by recommending treatments that are generally not necessary and then charge an arm and leg for it. However, here it isn't so. My experience with Dr. Amisha Upadhyaya, was indeed very pleasant and unique, to say the least. Their office staff is courteous and friendly. They are very reasonable in their fees and are not there to just get you. I had gone a few times for myself and had also taken my 80+ old mother for her dental issues, and every single time, the experience I had of Dr. Amisha was simply "Extraordinary". She is very gentle with her patients and we have never felt pain or have been hurt during or after any of the process. She is a Marvel!!! I would strongly recommend Dr. Amisha, to anyone who asked me for a reference."

"I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Upadhyaya. She thoroughly and painlessly cleaned my teeth and I found her approach to be extremely gentle. I also did not feel like she was rushing through my appointment and she took her time for my cleaning. She explained what she saw in the x-rays and told me what areas I needed to do a better job flossing in order to avoid future cavities. I found her to be very knowledgeable and she made my dental experience very comfortable. I won't be going to any other dentist from now on!"
