"I had my initial office visit with Cardinal Dental HB today. I had to switch my dentist of many years because of a change in my insurance. Needless to say, I was somewhat anxious. When I entered the office, the staff was so welcoming. I was called in within minutes. After my x-rays I meant with Dr. Chen. He couldn't have been nicer. He immediately put me at ease. He asked me about my medical/dental history, and we discussed any issues with my teeth. He listened and I felt like he truly was interested in what I was saying. I didn't feel rushed or nervous. We discussed a plan for future dental appointments and then I had my teeth cleaned. If anyone is looking for a kind, understanding, professional dentist with the best bedside manner look no further. I can highly recommend Dr. Chen. Thank you for a pleasant dental experience. See you in 6 months!"
"Moved to the area recently and went here for the first time. Was easy to get an appointment, staff was friendly and made good use of my time by doing paperwork online before my appointment. All said I was able to see the dentist, get a bunch of x-rays and a cleaning in just over an hour. I've had issues in the past with x-ray techs, but mine was very quick, patient and kind. My cleaning was excellent and I appreciate that they didn't manually not with the powered pick. Overall great experience and will be back in 6 months."
"Just started going to this dentist (Dr Andonian) and am very happy with their service. The Dr is very good at explaining the treatment performing the work. The staff are efficient and friendly. The facility is clean and comfortable."
"I just experienced the most bizarre dental appointment I've ever had. Instead of a dentist office I felt like I was at a used car dealership! Lol! For 6 years, I've had the exact same insurance w/ 3 diff dentists. The process is seamless-- X-rays + cleaning, then insurance covers the visit. When Dr. Andonian met with me, he went extensively into how I had bone loss and gum recession. I've been aware of it as my prior dentists have discussed with me. I then expected a cleaning, but he was vague as "they needed to check my insurance." Someone from the front desk then comes with a $400 bill and breaks down each line item. When she's finished, I calmly ask why I'm being charged $400 for a cleaning because I normally don't need to pay. She repeats the same information about the bill breakdown. I clarify my question, saying that I normally don't get charged $400 and would like to understand why this time's different. She responds about how she is in contract with the insurance company and sometimes only gets paid $3-5 for cleanings. In my head, I'm thinking, "Am I supposed to be giving a $400 charitable donation because of their unfair insurance contract? " I restate my question, saying that I'm unclear why my visits have been completely covered in the past and why they are not being covered today. She pulls up my insurance and says that the cleaning isnt covered. Still, I'm extremely confused why every visit has been covered and costed me $0 until today. Has my insurance suddenly changed without telling me? As I'm speaking, I can see impatience rising in her face. She states that insurances send brochures with this info, I can read myself, and she doesn't have time to learn every insurance. I try to calm her down, stating that it feels like we are speaking past each other and if we can try again. I've spoken 3-4 sentences the entire convo. I ask her, "can you please help me understand why I am being charged $400 for a cleaning when in the past I've been charged $0?" FINALLY, she understands and explains that the dr diagnosed me with a DEEP cleaning, which isn't covered. I clarify and say, "so regular cleanings cost me $0 and deep cleanings cost me $400?" This prompts her to pull up all my X-rays and go on and on about how my teeth are in bad shape. After a few minutes, I interrupt and calmly state, "I'm not questioning the doctor's decision. I'm just trying to understand what I need to pay." She responds with a lengthy explanation about how hmo's are confusing. I then tell her that I did not expect to pay $400 for a cleaning today and need some time. She responds that the doctor won't be able to give me a regular cleaning now that he has prescribed me with needing a deep cleaning, which I find extremely bizarre. I tell her that I understand and still would like some time, and then she offers to only do a deep cleaning of half my teeth for half the price. At this point, I am extremely uncomfortable with the entire situation and just want to leave. I tell her that I will consider it and come back. On my way out, the receptionist tries to schedule a deep cleaning, to which I say I will call back. I understand that some patients do need more expensive treatments and presenting and explaining the cost is a difficult task. However, my constructive feedback would be to work on LISTENING to patients' questions before instantly assuming we are trying to fight the price. The entire time, the woman I spoke to seemed to only be concerned with defending the $400. I have no problem paying for a $400 treatment if it maintains a healthy set of teeth, but before I do so, I need someone to calmly and PROFESSIONALLY explain why I am being charged $400 instead of the regular $0. I had no intent on questioning whether I needed the $400 service, but it felt like the woman I spoke to was trying to argue with me the entire time. At the end day, the unprofessionalism I observed has made me distrust this practice. If I need the exact same $400 deep cleaning, I will get it at a practice that treats their patients with professionalism."
"Wanted to wait until my second appointment before writing a review, even though I was already impressed the first time I was there. Staff is extremely friendly and personable! I had to have a crown done and was a bit worried as I've always had good teeth, but all that was taken care of very well, it looks amazing. Then I was told there aren't any appointments until about 3 months from the current date, so I told them I can be on a waiting list it's not a problem, but I was called back within 15 min of leaving the office and I was able to get two appointments for full cleaning. I am impressed. It's nice when it feels like you matter to a doctor, and this office def has the right staff to make you feel that way! Thank you!!!!!"
