"I went here from setptember through December of 2022 at first it was awful I was loosing my mi d I hated it there and at first it made it worse for me. There are staff you know care and one who do t but the ones who do really make a difference there are a few who personally helped me a lot. I loved my therapist. When I started letting people help it got better I understood why I was there. It can be a very violent experience with other peers but for me that helps me learn to cope better and make better decisions I can open up easily now and I haven’t had such good mental heath most my life and when I went ther when I got out I’m a better person for the better it’s all about you allowing them to help"
"Honestly just leaving this here because one of their official medical vans was driving erraticly down Perkins Rd. They nearly ran myself and others off of the road multiple times. I tried calling the number on the van but to no avail. Your drivers with your phone number displayed on the side of the van should do better. Terrifying."
"I am an established adult now. I went to compass as an adolescent following a suicide attempt. I’ve always been well behaved, just very depressed. I am still as an adult traumatized by my whole experience here. I was physically abused, neglected, and bullied by many compass staff members. I was even more suicidal during and following my “vacation” to compass intervention center in Memphis, TN. There were several violations of ethics. I beg you, please, do not send your children here. It is a dangerous place!! I was prescribed a dangerous and unnecessary amount of medications. Every time I complained of negative side effects, my dosage was increased. When I got out of compass, qualified professionals were horrified at the mg of Seroquel I was force fed. I imagine it would be a horrible place to work, since most of the staff I dealt with were not qualified for the job and were immature, non-empathetic bullies. Any staff that genuinely cared about the patients were promptly fired. Bless the nurse with long pink acrylic nails who fed me ensures when I was starving. It is basically a kid jail with unmanaged violence, terrible food, unclean environments, and cockroaches. Girls were not allowed to have gym time, only boys. I was not once allowed to go outside during my two month stay. The building smelled like stale popcorn and dead mice. When I was bullied by other kids, the staff did nothing to help. The high school level “education” was elementary level scholastic magazines and that’s it. This one old white guy “teacher” who wore Hawaiian print button ups was a total creep and a jerk!! Compass Intervention Center in Memphis, TN should be shut down. Something is seriously wrong with this place and how they deem it acceptable to physically, emotionally, and psychologically abuse children. Also, much of the staff and patients were openly homophobic and bullied me for being a lesbian. Sorry if this review is really long winded and not formatted well, I just had a sudden urge to let my voice be heard- to warn anyone thinking about sending their child here to reconsider. Seeing the recent 1 star reviews here that mirror my own tragic experiences from several years ago is disheartening. Any 5 star review here has got to be an outright lie!"
"As a professional in the nursing field, I believe it's crucial to share my experiences at Compass Intervention Center to inform and caution my fellow nurses about potential challenges they might face in this workplace. My feedback is based on personal observations and experiences, intending to provide a candid look into the work environment and culture at the center. Professionalism and Management: My experience with the upper management, including the Director of Nursing (DON), raised concerns about professionalism and fairness in handling staff matters. Instances where communication and administrative decisions lacked transparency and consistency were not uncommon, which, in my view, undermines the trust and morale among dedicated nursing staff. Concerns About Equality and Fairness: A particularly disheartening experience involved a noticeable discrepancy in how absences were managed. For example, after following the proper protocol to call out sick for a single day with a valid medical reason, my contract was abruptly terminated. Conversely, I observed that another nurse, under similar circumstances but absent for an extended period, did not face the same repercussions. Such incidents suggest a concerning pattern of unequal treatment among staff, which should be addressed to ensure fairness and equity in the workplace. Work Environment and Staff Conduct: Equally troubling are reports and observations related to the conduct towards those in care at the center. Allegations of inappropriate behavior by some staff members towards children, coupled with a lack of visible disciplinary action, raise serious questions about the center's commitment to a safe and nurturing environment for its vulnerable clientele. Ensuring the safety and well-being of those in care should be the utmost priority, and any deviation from this principle is unacceptable. Final Thoughts: Choosing a workplace that aligns with one's professional and ethical standards is paramount for nurses, who are committed to delivering compassionate and competent care. My experience at Compass Intervention Center suggests that there are significant areas for improvement in management practices, staff treatment, and maintaining a safe, professional work environment. I urge my fellow nursing professionals to consider these factors carefully when evaluating potential employment opportunities at this facility."
"Edited to add: I contacted them as requested and never heard back. I've emailed the CEO. Still nothing. We've gone 3 weeks at this point without getting the visitation with our daughter. I should have paid attention more to the reviews when we admitted our daughter here. We were desperate for her to find help, and there aren't a lot of options in Tennessee for teenage girls, so this is where she is. They constantly miss our weekly calls, are late to every single Zoom visitation, and the family therapy is rarely on time. They haven't given her a single letter we've written and claim they haven't received them, even though I have tracking that says otherwise. She hasn't been allowed to send us letters either. She was assigned to a therapist that immediately went out on medical leave and is now without a dedicated therapist. The people filling in don't put her as a priority since she's not their patient. I've asked that she be assigned to someone else's case load so she'll actually get help but that hasn't happened yet. I'm beyond frustrated with this place and my husband and I will be looking for alternatives. I wouldn't give a star if that was the option."
