"Chocolat has some of the best desserts in the area. The Gelato is really good and I highly recommend that you try some. The service is outstanding and the employees are really friendly."
"From the moment I stepped into Chocola at Hillcrest, I knew I was in for a treat. This culinary gem, nestled in the heart of Hillcrest, offers an unparalleled dining experience that tantalizes the taste buds and warms the soul. My visit to Chocola was nothing short of magical, marked by exquisite dishes, delectable desserts, and impeccable customer service that set a new gold standard for fine dining. As I entered Chocola, I was immediately greeted by the warm and inviting ambiance that promised an evening of comfort and indulgence. The staff welcomed me with genuine smiles and attentiveness, showcasing their commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction from the get-go. Their recommendations were spot-on, guiding me through a menu brimming with innovative creations and classic favorites, all crafted with the freshest, highest-quality ingredients. The dinner commenced with an array of appetizers that were both visually stunning and bursting with flavor, setting the stage for the culinary masterpiece that was to unfold. Each dish was a testament to the chef's artistry and passion for food, perfectly balanced and infused with unique combinations of flavors that danced on the palate. The main course was a revelation, with each bite more delightful than the last, embodying the essence of fine dining. However, it was the dessert that truly stole the show. Chocola at Hillcrest has rightfully earned its reputation for crafting some of the most exquisite desserts imaginable, and my experience was no exception. The dessert menu was a masterpiece of creativity, with each option more tempting than the last. I indulged in a creation that was not only a feast for the eyes but an explosion of flavors that lingered long after the last bite, leaving me in awe of the culinary wizardry at Chocola. Beyond the extraordinary food, it was the customer service that truly set Chocola at Hillcrest apart. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of the dining experience was perfect. Their attention to detail, from the seamless flow of the meal to the personalized touches, made me feel valued and cared for. It was clear that customer satisfaction is not just a goal at Chocola, but a deeply ingrained value."
"Review only applies to the coffee, pastries and crepes. The coffee game here is pretty mid. Maybe Starbucks quality, or slightly above. If you are seeking quality “third wave” coffee beverages, you’re MUCH better off going to Figaro just around the corner. I’ve tried the latte, which was fine but unremarkable and with really nothing that qualifies as “latte art”. I’ve also tried their signature triple-layer beverage, forget the name, but it was underwhelming and I would not order it again nor recommend it. The pastry experience was similarly average, and tastes very bulk-ordered. I tried the chocolate croissant, and it was not remotely resembling the flaky, French delicacy I was hoping for. Certainly not terrible, but basically grocery-story bakery quality. The crepes, however, are fantastic. Prepared quickly and with generous toppings, they were as good as any specialty creperie. The coffees are really pretty average, but the super friendly service, fair prices and amazing crepes merit that fourth star. Will try the pastas next time around."
"Easily my favorite restaurant in all of San Diego! I’ve lived here for 10 years and am just now discovering Chocolat. The customer service is superb. Their lattes and desserts exquisite, and their menu is so versatile. EVERYTHING here is mouth watering and cooked to perfection. 10/10 recommend."
"I came here on my birthday one year & quite enjoyed the oven baked pizza, salad, & dessert. The flavors & cooking was just divine. It made my day and the friendliness and helpfulness of staff was greatly appreciated. The pizza in particular was just greatly enjoyable, warm and cheesy, but excellent for not being oily. An underrated business I feel."
