"I was dismayed to learn today that Ivy’s Nails is under threat. In 2019, the business was purchased outright in a verbal agreement, with no date of expiry mentioned. Now the seller is having cold feet and instructing the team to vacate the premises by December 14th, 2023. This is exactly the sort of greed we do not need more of in the bay area. This predatory behavior is the death of creativity and the ruin of security for hardworking small business owners. None of Dam’s utility bills or rent were late and a large payment was made in the interest of running the business as her own. She renovated the interior and replaced all aging equipment and furniture with her own savings. As you can see, Ivy’s Nails is retaining customers and receiving overwhelmingly good reviews - of course the seller wants the business back! After my nail tech moved away last year, I was delighted to find Ivy’s Nails and start new. They have provided me with several beautiful, long-lasting and creative dip sets this year. They consistently come out looking like new after my workouts and even survived my dark water rafting escapades in New Zealand. I often observe the nail techs here practicing with new colors and talking about techniques they want to try. They are positive, patient and interested - I am a picky client, so this is a big plus! These dedicated artists deserve to be treated with respect and equity, not steamrolled by people they trust. "I moved to the Bay Area almost two years ago and I tried so many different nail salons. Approximately 1 year later, I found Ivy’s Nail in a small shopping center in the Portola Valley and have been coming ever since. I normally get dipped nails and deluxe pedicure and the quality of Ivy’s services is above and beyond any services I have received in the Bay Area. The pedicures last long and do not chip in between services and the dip applied by Ivy is not too think and not too thin. Additionally I like to have fun with my nails and like trying different styles and colors. Ivy is a master colorist. You can show her any pictures and she can recreate the color. This shop is amazing and highly recommend them. And best of all, the entire staff is friendly.
