"Absolutely horrendous! They make sick children wait in a waiting room for 5 1/2 hours with a 104 degree temperature and then tell me we can leave to go seek proper medical care or we will be billed and insurance won’t cover it because it’s against medical advice to leave??? Yet the nurse on the phone says my daughter should be seen IMMEDIATELY well 5 1/2 hours isn’t immediate! Criminals"
"I feel as though I had visited a grifter rather than a reputable healthcare provider. My daughter injured her ankle, and my pediatrician suggested this clinic as an option. After X-rays, I was told by the doctor that my child would be “fitted” for a boot. When the nurse entered, we told her my obviously petite child’s shoe size (girls’ size 2). She gave us a boot with no explanation (I asked a couple of questions about how I should put it on). By the time we got home, my child was complaining about the device. I tried it on, and it was giant on me. After a brief internet search, I discovered it was meant to fit a women’s size 8-10 shoe (larger than I wear). Also, it has an air pump we were not told about (we were not given the manual, either). My child could have injured herself if she had worn this improperly fitted device as instructed by medical staff. I returned to the clinic in high dudgeon to complain, and they gave us an appropriately sized boot. Friends, the grifting was not over. This clinic apparently contracts with a third party vendor, DJO, that has previously been sanctioned for unethical billing. That stupid boot, which Amazon is selling to any takers at around $70 (and other medical supply companies sell for a similar fee), was $300 from DJO. Vanderbilt’s billing department said they can’t control a third party’s fees. Can you not, Vanderbilt? Did you not make some lucrative financial arrangement with them? Did you not thrust me, unwitting, into their clutches? My child’s health was certainly not put first at this clinic. I have grave doubts about whether she needed a boot at all, she certainly did not need an improperly fitted one manufactured for a large adult woman, and I didn’t need to pay a 400% markup on it. Avoid this place if you can, and do not accept any DJO medical devices from them. Zero stars."
"Unbelievable malpractice and lack of knowledge. The IPN (Kelly Minor) working for Dr.Trenner removed the stitches for my wife. My wife asked if there needed to be any sort of cover or ban-aid and we were told no. We put her boot on left and when she got home the suture split open. She went back and they had to reseal it with steri-strips. How is this level of incompetence allowed. The note after the visit said “patient tolerated the procedure well with no immediate complications” I consider a suture opening back up because of a lack of care from an IPN a complication, especially when the patient asks if it should be covered before they leave. The wound care specialists when we came back said this should’ve never happened and it should have left the first time with a cover. I have attempted to connect with a live person about this encounter but I feel there will be no repercussions Mrs.Minors actions."
"My 2 year old son got a nursemaids elbow this morning and I rushed him to Vanderbilt Children's Orthopaedics Hendersonville to get there before they closed for an elbow reduction, a very quick procedure for someone qualified to do it. I called ahead to confirm they were open but couldn't reach a human. I got there at 11:50 and was informed that the doctors had already left and they suggested I try Vanderbilt Children's ER. This means more time waiting in pain for my son. The people working there were very kind, but if your hours say you're open, be open. If the doctors leave early, say so. Or, maybe don't leave early? I've noticed Vanderbilt Children's Orthopaedics Hendersonville only seems to respond to positive reviews and not negative ones, but I honestly hope this doesn't fall on deaf ears. Next time a hurt kid is carried in there at 11:50 AM, I hope someone is there to help them. My son will be fine but I'm very disappointed in Vanderbilt Children's Orthopaedics Hendersonville. Two thumbs down."
"I am a professional dancer with possibly a broken big toe, or it may be in the ball of my foot after an injury from coming out of a lift. I called to make an appointment because I'm in pain, my foot is swollen and bruised, and this is my career. When I told the receptionist I'd be paying myself (which I have done and am able to do) she turned me away. "We are not accepting self pay at this time, I can not schedule you." I am in shock. I can't get into a doctor when I am hurt because you don't trust you can make money off me. Wow.... Some doctor. Thanks for nothing."
