Residence Inn by Marriott Nashville Downtown/Convention Center

"I always give 5 stars so it doesn’t affect managements GSS scores. But if I could, I would give this hotel fewer. I can tell the management is very, very shady here, and the customer service from management is not good. They preauthorized my card 24 hours prior to check in. This was not a prepaid reservation. When my bank flagged this transaction for fraud (obviously, as it was an out of state manual authorization), and the card didn’t go through, they threatened to cancel my rsv. They were not at 100% OCC last night. When I called, obviously upset, I received no apology, no empathy, and no listening. I was simply told “this is Marriotts policy.” I am the GM for a Springhill Suites, have worked for every brand including Hilton, BW, and IHG, and I have NEVER done this. If I am worried about cancelations and lost revenue, I CALL the guests directly to confirm their plans, I would NEVER run a card without their permission. Unauthorized transactions are not a revenue management strategy. I called Marriott corporate and they were as shocked as I was. I also called a few Marriott execs that I know, and they were also very confused as to why this was policy at this franchise. I can only imagine the amount of chargebacks this location receives running folks cards without permission. The rooms were clean other than the top of the fridge, microwave, and furniture was cracked in places. Needed touch up with wood marker. Trundle bedding was in place, which was nice, as well as correct hangers and branded laundry bag. I would certainly never stay here again."

"I am giving this place one star for the mere fact of their customer service! We had checked out, 5 mins post check out my fiancee realized he left his backpack with his work laptop sitting on the couch. We called because we were coming right back to get it. The room had probably not been cleaned! They said we could not come back and get it. We had to go online and complete a form. We did that, we got a thing that said a few business days later somebody would get back to us! UNACCEPTABLE! We went back because we were not leaving town without this laptop! At this time he is in the hotel arguing with staff to get his backpack with his laptop back!"

"Lovely hotel. Always nice to have an extra room and kitchen. Slept really well, and it’s a nice location for hitting the downtown sites. After a day out, we went to the roof top bar that had a beautiful view of the city. The only on-premises parking available is valet."

"This is an upward 3-star hotel: relatively clean, classy, quiet, at the heart of Nashville, close to several museums. We stayed here for one night. The room had a full kitchen with utensils, a dishwasher, a fridge, an electric stove, etc (a video is attached). The bed sheets looked clean and recently changed (yes, some hotels do not change the bed sheets!) The hotel offered a complimentary breakfast, which was mediocre. I'd rather pay for a quality breakfast rather than have free whatever. There is no "real" coffee creamer/half and half. We eventually decided to go out for breakfast. However, the dining area was very friendly, stylish, and clean. The hotel only has valet parking ($$$), and it was a mess at checkout time, perhaps partly due to New Year events and the number of guests in the hotel. Will I stay here again? Yes, but I will likely diversify my experience before returning to Residence Inn by Marriott Nashville Downtown."

"Such a lovely stay. We were traveling on Thanksgiving with three dogs, and the reception staff was kind enough to check us in early and upgrade us to the Elite rooms without us asking. The valet staff was very helpful and kind. The rooms were very clean. Great location too. In east walking distance of anything you’d need."
