Reviews of BAIA
"I had a friend visiting from NYC that is vegan, so in searching for options, I ran across Biai! I had not been in the space since it was Jardiniere. The new team kept the amazing interiors/aesthetic of Jardiniere. The front of house team was quirky, polite, friendly. They were understanding that my friend was a few minutes late, so I ordered a glass of champagne (Collet, Champagne) and reviewed the menu (see photo) We ended up ordering the arancini, though I forgot to take a pic, it was the best item on the menu and had a bit of zing / spice in the sauce. My friend got the tofu scramble and I ordered the Margherita pizza. The tofu scramble was a bit bland for my friend, as he asked for any type of pico or sauce they might have had. He did also get a side of the homemade puccia bread. My pizza was very tasty and would order it again, a doughy and lots of flavor in the pomodoro sauce. One notable piece is their large selection of zero proof offerings from the bar."
"I recently dined at BAIA vegan restaurant and had a fantastic experience. Its prime location near the SF Ballet and City Center makes it convenient for a post-show meal. The ambiance is delightful, with a beautiful brick exterior and cozy interior bathed in muffled light, creating a soothing atmosphere. What impressed me the most was their extensive menu catering to various dietary restrictions, offering many dairy and gluten-free options. I especially enjoyed their Funghi pizza and meatballs, bursting with flavor. And the panna cotta for dessert was simply divine! To top it off, the Di Flory craft cocktail was a refreshing delight, subtly infused with a light rose aroma. BAIA is a gem for vegans and non-vegans alike, offering a culinary experience that exceeds expectations."
"Came here tonight for date night with my partner. It was our first time being here and it we had an amazing time! Aside from one small hiccup with my drink, it’s not worth mentioning details since the (assuming) manager onsite was so quick, professional and friendly about resolving the issue! Our waiter Fernando was great as well. He provided a high level of customer service that made our night great. We especially loved the mushroom soup and espresso martini. Thank you to the staff, we cannot wait to visit again in the future."
"I would give this one 3.5 stars if I could. Baia is very pretty and in a great location for seeing the symphony. I love vegan food and am always excited to try new places. But, the only really amazing part of the meal was dessert, with the sourdough ice cream - that was some of the best vegan ice cream I’ve ever had! On the other hand, the brussel sprouts were too sour and not crispy at all so we only ate a few bites. The persimmon pizza had nice crust but was very boring, and the pasta we had was so simple it was a little bit like watery mac and cheese. Service was a bit rushed and not especially friendly. It was nice to be out in the city for a dinner, but I’m not sure I would go back for the food. But if you’re easily pleased or just need something filling before a show, you’ll probably do just fine here."
"I didn't realize this was a vegan restaurant when I made reservations, but everything was Soo good! Started with the endive-beet salad and meatballs. Both dishes were delicious 10/10! For our mains I got the mushroom pizza and my boyfriend got the gluten-free sausage pizza. Mushroom pizza was really good - I don't think I would have noticed there wasn't real cheese! It was nice that all the pizza and pasta can be made gluten free - my boyfriend said his GF pizza was one of the better ones he has had (most GF pizza crusts are pretty bad)."
