"I love this facility. This facility also takes in foster care children when there is no other place to go. Each cottage looks like a home. The staff all seem to care genuinely about the children at youth villages. You have levels you can earn by behavior. Everyone starts out in scrubs and flip flops for run risk. However, after the first week, you can earn levels all the way to junior staff. As a junior staff member, you will be required to maintain positive behavior towards other children and respect for your adults. You're required to use proper coping skills to maintain this level. You are allowed to go to basketball games and whatever else for good behavior with your assigned staff members. Everyone has a chore at this facility. Those chores may be sweeping the cottage, cooking, etc. Lower levels have restrictions to outings and privileges. As it should be. You go to school Monday through Friday. You have goals given to you each week. You will repeat these goals out loud, and you will go over these goals with staff every day to see if you think you're accomplishing this goal. You will see a therapist once a week on site. Lots of support for the kids. These staff are trained on how to deal with children who get out of control and try to harm the staff or other children. They have specific ways to deal with these kids. You are not allowed to leave your room at night for any reason without permission from a staff member to do so. The staff come into your room every hour to scan to make sure everyone is accounted for. It is safety protocol. I can't say enough about this facility. It's a really good place."
"as a teenager growing up I had a hard time coping with life and also a hard time coping with the fact that I was getting older a lot of problems so to say after my attendance at Dogwood I came out a better person better understanding life itself and the staff I didn't realize then how great they were I recommend this place to anybody that has a teen going through things"
"Well this is the best review by far. This campus has great staff that don’t get the credit they deserve. The food could use some work.They could get rid of the raccoons. The staff in Oak and Sequoia need a raise. The treatment process can be tedious. It depends on the youths behaviors,and their situation.Again go Oak. The staff are highly equipped intellectually.They are able to deal with very difficult youth.They also work hard miserable hours.These people are very passionate about their job.I would like to thank these people for giving back to the community. Counselors,staff,and supervisors thankyou.I also would like to thank the people who make meals, and the ones who clean.Thankyou so much for the support you have given these youth.Again shout out to OAK the great.Thankyou to all the people who work to better other people’s lives"
