Reviews of Marina Restaurant
"This is an authentic Italian restaurant! The food is absolutely delicious. The service is very kind, our server clarified our questions and she was very attentive. The restaurant is beautiful with good natural light. We do love this place in Pasadena. I asked for the Rigatoni alla Norma and my husband got the mushroom linguini, we finished with a tiramisu as dessert. Everything was perfect."
"Grade B+ (89): Mushroom Linguini was good, Cavatelli pasta was a bit too doughy for me, I would not order. Very disappointing that they didn't have the bluecheese cheesecake so we got the Tiramisu (not my favorite). The pizza was pleasantly surprising good, it has some wheatty/sourdoughy flavor, was nice."
"Memba Sharkeys? Well it’s all growed up, and now it’s Marina in Pasadena. And let me lay it out for you- they are putting out an assortment of authentic Italian dishes here. What’s that? Well since you asked me- here are my recommendations: start with the nectarine salad with arugula, goat cheese, Parma and walnuts. PS - I am unable to eat Parma and walnuts(among other things), so I usually give them to somebody else, and that person always tells me they were delicious. Be sure to add an order of the squash blossoms. Yes I know they look like fried chicken wings in the photo, but there is not much I can do to fix that. They also have this puffy bread that comes out of the oven looking like a UFO- and to be honest, is not my favorite thing on the menu, but I order it for the “experience”. Now, their pizzas are amazing - I get the Margherita, primarily because I can’t eat sausage, or prosciutto, or meat, or Parmesan. Finally, you cannot go wrong with the pasta- I love the pasta alla nonna, and my wife is a fan of the carbonara and it’s sous vide egg on top. All the others look great but yeah- you guessed it- I can’t eat sausage, meat, etc, etc. Tiramisu and pastries are outstanding. Had to give four stars for service as they forgot my $4.00 espresso and I didn’t realize it until I was all the way home. Maybe I should be thanking them for not letting me get all hopped up on caffeine at this time of night."
"After hiking in the hills of the San Gabriel Mountains my group looked on Yelp to find a lunch spot nearby we could try. One of the places that popped up was Marina which none of us ever tried so we decided to check this place out. My group decided to explore the à la carte menu instead of the prefixed option. We started with the stuffed zucchini flowers and pear salad, both of which were beautifully presented. The calamari was perfectly crispy and tender, while the Carbonara pasta was rich and satisfying. The satisfaction of getting to pop the yolky egg and mixing it in with the pasta noodles was a chef's kiss. To top it off, the Margherita pizza was a classic favorite, with a thin and crispy crust complemented by fresh tomato sauce and mozzarella. The ambiance at Marina is a breath of fresh air, with its modern, light, and bright atmosphere. The restaurant's interior design creates a welcoming and uplifting space that enhances the overall dining experience. Overall, Marina is a fantastic Italian restaurant in Pasadena that I would highly recommend. The attentive service provided by the staff added an extra touch of hospitality. If you're in the mood for delicious Italian cuisine and great service, Marina is definitely worth a visit."
