The Academy of Gateway

"Let me preface this by saying yes I am very angry right now. As both the parent of a child who went here and as the husband of my wife who worked here until today. The academy has treated my wife very unfairly and to be honest we have had multiple instances where my son was not properly taken care of. First with my son, he has came home multiple times with a diaper that was only halfway cleaned, and for a time he would come home with the diaper literally falling off because whoever changed him did not do it anywhere near correctly. Multiple rashes due to this, causing multiple problems at home. He is 3 and of course acts up sometimes. This would include running when it’s time to change his diaper. Which by the way we have been working on his potty training but while he is there his “teacher” simply gave up when he would run away. That makes it so much harder to potty train. Now for my wife. My son has the flu right now, ironically that he got from the academy since it was going through his classroom last week and he tested positive Monday. Him having the flu causes him to need to stay home, which causes my wife to have to stay home. Due to my work schedule and career field I’m unable to stay home. Jamie, the manager, would rather my wife, who is taking care of my son with the flu, to come in around other children, very possibly spreading the flu further, than to take some time off and deal with this. As such I moved things around to allow my wife to go to work today and tomorrow, just like she asked. Only for her to fire my wife as soon as she showed up. Her reasoning was an inconsistent schedule and missed days. My wife’s schedule is supposed to be 9am until ratio, meaning between 4-6pm. It has been weeks since she came in on that schedule because she was always asked to come in earlier, while staying just as late. Missed days has always been due to doctor visits and sickness, which as a parent I wouldn’t want my child around sickness as it can affect home life and work life as well. Yes I am angry right now, and all I can do is write a google review. I’ve kept quiet about this stuff because my wife worked there and didn’t want to lose her job. That’s obviously not the case anymore. If your thinking about sending your child here or applying to work, please just keep these things in mind. But not every teacher was bad, there are some very good ones here. But these are my families experiences in the 3 years both my son and wife were there."

"So glad we found The Academy at Gateway! The staff is incredible, communicative, and extremely caring. The additional perks for parents and families are great - hot breakfast bar for families, extended hours once a month for parent date nights, and they provide almost all daily necessities for the children (food, water, milk, sleeping cots, etc)"

"Taking your 4 month old into a school for the 1st time & having to walk away is emotional enough, but I was able to walk away with comfort & peace because I knew my son was safe, that he was in a warm, compassionate environment, & was loved by his teachers. Courtney & Chasidy knew my name & my son's name from day one! They truly care for all the kids and they take the time to get to know all the parents/grandparents too. I never walk in there without someone greeting me and/or telling me a sweet story about my son's day. I love walking up to his classroom door & seeing his teachers love on him & him giggling with his friends. He is truly happy going to AOG. On an educational note, he has awesome social skills, enjoys music, art, playing outside, & learns something new everyday. It's truly a joy to watch him blossom there! It's been almost 2 years, and I know my husband and I made the right decision in choosing AOG :) - 2016 - Update 2023: Our family’s time at AOG has come to an end after 8 and a half years…. Our two boys were so very loved and cared for by the amazing teachers and staff at AOG everyday! They thrived socially, emotionally, & academically! They were so happy being there and always had fun & always felt safe! As they have moved on to elementary school, I’ve had their teachers tell me how impressed they are with their preschool knowledge. My boys continue to flourish & grow, yet will still tell me how much they miss some of their favorite teachers at the Academy. A compassionate, kind, & loving impression has been left on them by the amazing staff at AOG. So if you are near to this school, check it out! Hoping you feel the same comfort we did as parents and like my original review above, my husband and I know that AOG was the absolute best decision for our family!"

If we had questions or concerns, they were always met w/ no hesitation. There is a genuine love they have for the kids/students there. I always felt at ease with dropping my daughter off with them and knew she was receiving the best attention and care. I know we as a family will truly miss the family of Academy of Gateway."

"The Academy is the best daycare in town. My little one’s development has soared there especially speech and social development. The director is amazing and so caring. All of the teachers we have encountered have been interested in the kids and not just going through the daily motions. And the teachers don’t leave often as we have experienced as other daycares. The people, the curriculum, the atmosphere there are all make such a positive impact."
