"Drove down without reservations. Arrived 30 minutes after opening but no one was there. We went to lunch and came back after 1:30, still closed. No answer on the phone either. Just disappointing."
"I literally just spoke with a woman named Mrs. Harris while trying to obtain information and schedule a tour. She was VERY unprofessional and rude. She responded to my questions as if I was bothering her and she didn't show any patience during the call. I chose not to schedule a visit. I felt that if this was any reflection of how the tour would be...I regret to say Im not intrested. It was so sad!"
"This is a Free place however, they ask for a $10 per adult donation. Mask required. I like many saw the sign on the highway. Suggestions: Post the asking donation on the front door, block off areas you do not want folks to enter, play a video or give an introduction to talk about Ida. There is only one room for Ida B Wells's information, have a place for folks to take photos, even if just a few. Ask students and community members for suggestions on how to make things better, take a Saturday and organize, and get welcoming passionate volunteers who want to see the place do well. Ida B Wells deserves the best! Make this an attraction to all who enter the appointment or not."
"We stopped at the Ida B Wells museum because of highway signs leading us right to it. Were not very warm welcomed by any of the staff and commented they usually schedule visits which was not of course posted anywhere. Paid 20.00 to walk through 4 rooms of a two story beautiful home. Upstairs is all closed off and did not feel welcomed at all! There was one room with history of Ida B Wells the rest was all about art affects and air looms that was not completely accurate. Many items not from the aira they proclaimed"
"It was an amazing experience to stand in the house that once Ida B Wells grew up in. The house is a great start in showing Ida B Wells. It’s still in progress… it’s going to be amazing once completed."
