Reviews of Bistro Na's
"One of my favorite Chinese restaurants for really great food. I believe this place is Michelin rated. I'm not surprised. My favorite is the crispy shrimp/prawns. They must use super hot oil to get the shrimp shells to be so light and crispy. You can eat the whole shrimp, shell, tail and all! Today, the 2 of us had the beef brisket with quail eggs and the zhajianmein, a noodle dish using black bean sauce. Both very good. Very flavorful. Good service. They have set a high bar. Many new restaurants are trying to outclass and outdo Bistro Na. I was surprised to get seating for 2 on a busy afternoon after church. Maybe the others are out trying the new contenders?"
"I’m a big fan of the Beijing Duck, but to be candid, I’ve been disappointed by the offerings I’ve tried so far. They all lacked the element of authenticity in some shape or form. For instance, most of the Beijing Duck in the US are more Guangdong style with the thin, crispy skin. But the actual Beijing style calls for a balance of crispy and thickness, which creates a whole new texture. The duck dish at Bistro Na’s hits the spot on that perfect balance. In fact, all of their items look, feel, and taste authentic. Plus, they use live ducks so the freshness really shines through (keep in mind that they only cook eight a day, so don’t forget your reservation beforehand!) We also tried the Braised Abalone and the Pork Belly with Chinese Puffy Pie. The chefs here use kurobuta pork, which amplifies the unique richness of the pork and the overall taste palette of the dish. There is none of the “raw” taste associated with cheap pork here, and the sauce flows beautifully with the star anise as the focal point. Finally, the Crispy Shrimp: a simple dish upon first glance, yet Bistro Na’s did not disappoint with the texture of the shrimp shell. I didn’t know it could be so delicious! The crispiness and sweet-sour flavor profiles work wonderfully here. Without a doubt, this is the best Chinese restaurant I’ve been to between here and NorCal. The utmost attention to detail, from presentation to ingredients to overall quality, is unmatched, and you’ll see all of this unravel in front of your hungry eyes. Enjoy!"
"Bistro Na is the kind that sticks in your memory for being deliciously unforgettable, despite recently losing its Michelin star. It's somewhat akin to SF's R&G Lounge—both places offer straightforward, universally loved, and authentic Chinese cuisine without any pretense. Every dish on the menu seems to hit the mark. The four of us ordered six dishes plus a Mini Assorted Eight, appreciating that many dishes are available in smaller portions. This thoughtful option allowed us to sample as many flavors as possible, including Crispy Shrimp, Chili Tofu Skin Salad, Braised Brisket with Quail Egg, Na’s Crispy Lamb Brisket, Stir-Fried Pea Sprouts with Mushrooms, and Stir-Fried Baby Choy with Morel Mushrooms. Their Stir Fried Baby Bok Choy with Morel Mushrooms (羊肚菌炒奶白苗)might just be the best stir-fried baby bok choy I've ever had. What's surprising is the absence of high-end ingredients or the garlic-heavy approach common in American Chinese restaurants; it's the simplicity of the stir-fry that shines through. My bar for simple stir-fried veggies is high, but this Northern Chinese restaurant met my expectations with flying colors—I nearly ate half a plate by myself. This place has completely transformed my view of royal Manchu cuisine. The ingredients are fresh and top-notch, the cooking strikes a perfect balance between traditional authenticity and innovation, and the presentation is delicately just right—sophisticated without being overdone. The ambiance is cozy, and the service is prompt yet unobtrusive, making the dining experience exceptionally enjoyable. It's more relaxed than dining in some Michelin-starred establishments, without that museum-like stiffness. Now I think this spot is the best Chinese formal sit-down dining restaurant I've had in the U.S., and it's a must-visit next time I'm in LA. (Not including dim sum, hotpot, dumplings or noodle places.)"
"Delicious Chinese Restaurant that lives up to its Michelin rankings Ordered ▪️Braised Pork Belly ▪️Fried Tofu ▪️Fried Shrimp ▪️ Angus beef with garlic ▪️Shrimp fried rice ▪️Drunken Chicken Everything was excellent except Braised pork belly could use a bit more work. Service is not so attentive but dishes come relatively fast. Beautiful interior decor with lots of tables. Great for causal and semi formal dining"
"I’m coming to LA, and my friend brought me to Bistro Na’s, claiming it’s a luxury meal that I must try. This piqued my curiosity about what qualifies as true luxury. In any case, he booked a table a month in advance! So, here we are at Bistro Na’s. We began the meal with pear juice served in a large bronze kettle. It had a delightful fragrance and was quite flavorful. The second course was the starter, an Emperor Jar. The soup was thick, yellowish, with a hint of crunchiness – a good deal. Next up were the hidden treasure and Pork feet jelly. My girlfriend loved the hidden treasure, especially since she’s a fan of sticky rice. The Pork feet jelly was incredibly good, even though I had never tried pork feet before. I cleaned up the plate so well. The Black pepper Angus beef was also very good, covered with a blackish sauce and pepper. Highly recommended. My top pick of the day was the simple Crispy shrimps – 8 pieces of jumbo shrimp thinly coated with flour and lightly fried with the shell. The shrimp shell turned into a soft shell crab. Additionally, shrimp shells are rich in protein and nutrients. The sauce that came with it elevated the taste to another level. So flavorful. Finally, we finished with eight different kinds of desserts. Surprisingly, despite the grandeur of the meal, the four of us managed to finish everything. I highly recommend this place, but be aware of the arrival time. Do not tempt your luck by walking in; you might end up waiting for an hour. Booking the restaurant in advance would be ideal. I can confidently say that Bistro Na’s lived up to its reputation for luxury quality. I absolutely enjoyed the experience and would without a doubt come back again."
