"Rented chairs for Christmas. Chairs were DIRTY. We had to wipe them down and add floor protectors before bringing them inside."
"I usually never do this, but I would regret not doing it. I rented a chainsaw from Art Pancake’s Rent-All. I've never had such a horrible and racist experience in my 30+ years of living in this area. I went to rent a chainsaw and was told it was brand new, out of the box, and had not been rented before. I did not believe it, but I proceeded with the rental. I think the guy was the manager and kept asking me who would be operating it. I kept asking him why that mattered, and he said he needed to explain the instructions to someone who knew what they were doing. Pretty much because I’m a woman and Hispanic, they thought I was dumb and wouldn’t be able to understand and relay the instructions to someone who doesn’t even speak English. I'm bilingual and in my master's degree program at Trevecca University. I think I can understand some simple instructions. He had to tell me that the saw uses 2-cycle engine oil. I already knew that. I've worked in the landscape business before. My brother has a landscaping business, and he had to tell the man to let me take the chainsaw with me. They gave me 100 threats not to damage it, and they gave me mixed gas, which was less than a gallon for a Stihl MS 500 chainsaw! This is a significant tool that uses a lot of gas; they knew it, and for this reason, they would have given me at least 2 gallons because it was Saturday mid-morning when I rented it, and I was going to have the chainsaw on Saturday and Sunday. I ran out of the gas they gave me and didn't go to Nashville to get more because they closed their business Saturday at 5:30 pm. I used the gas I had for two other chainsaws at the workplace. One was rented at Lowes an hour before renting the Stihl. Nothing happened to the Lowes chainsaw and mine with the gas we used. I own a chainsaw. I don’t own a chainsaw this big for the job I need. Not even their machine was damaged; they only noticed that it was a different gas because the one I used was red and the one they used was blue. When I returned the machine on Monday, they didn't say anything, but on Tuesday they called me and said that the machine didn't turn on, that it was damaged and that the owner, who was on vacation, had said that I had to pay for it. I went to the place accompanied by my brother, who knows how to operate, he turned it on, and it started fine. But the technician kept saying it wasn't working well and would eventually get damaged. Probably, the equipment is already overworked, and they are just looking for a scapegoat to rent them and then charge them as new. I have photos and videos of this entire process. I mean, the cashier's receipt, and I asked the cashier man to write down “the reason” why I was making this payment; my receipt says "sales receipt." The chainsaw had a green label saying "ready to rent," and the chainsaw worked well. I assume they wanted to take it out of their used business inventory to buy a new one because it was already overworked, and I was the person who fell into their hands. I felt like they stole my money. The chainsaw worked the next day when we tried to start it. It works fine now. They just needed any excuse for me, a woman, to buy them new by assuming I was stupid and going to break it. My fate was sealed as soon as I walked in the door. Please STAY AWAY from this place. I will also post this in Spanish and tell everyone about it. In the end I had to buy his used chainsaw at new price. $1600+ tax. This is because I knew I had a contract, and the people behind the desk limited themselves to saying that the owner ordered them to do so. Stay away from this place. They are going to take advantage of your needs so they can continue growing their business without thinking about the monetary loss you have. I bought a machine I didn't need much just because they wanted a new one to continue renting."
"Great business, the staff is great , family business and has been for decades ! I love Art Pancakes"
"Art Pancakes is the reason why we need small businesses. During the snow storm this year, the owner, Joe Pancake, was there serving customers. I needed dog food and salt (because Big Box retailers were out). I asked him for salt expecting a “Sold Out” response, but instead responded with, “How much do you need?” He explained that they had made the choice to not sale to folks in bulk to help ensure their usual customers could be properly served. Incredible. They will made a loyal customer even more loyal. Keep up the great work!"
"My friend told me about this place and I gave it a try. Rented mini skid steer on tracks made by Ditch Witch. Worked very vell, also day rate was at compatitive prices. There was not 4 hour rent rate available as I was told that there is 1 day rental minimum on this machine. Everyone was friendly. For first visit 5 stars."
