"A friend bought a truck here, which was one of many vehicles she bought here, but we weren't satisfied with it and took it back about 5 day's later although CarMax you have 30 day's to return a vehicle! The process of returning the truck was extremely simple and easy and they didn't need a reason why, although we had issues with the transmission and the condition of the truck, they took it off the for sale list and it went immediately to the garage!!! Thanks CarMax for the excellent customer service and care we were given!!! As we told them then we will definitely use CarMax for our next vehicle purchase!!!! Excellent customer service all the way around!!!!"
"Horrible experience! We had a car shipped in from out of state to Knoxville. When picking it up we saw damage that happened in transit. They agreed to fix it. Two weeks later, CarMax called saying our car was accidentally shipped to Georgia and had been sold! After a few days they were able to stop the sale and a week later the car was back to Knoxville. We went back the 2nd time for express pick up and saw the damage had not been fixed and there were new scratches so we refused the car. We then had another car shipped. After 12 days we got a call that it was ready to pick up. Upon arrival for our 3rd express pick up we were told the car had not been inspected and couldn't be sold even though we had an appointment. After 4 days another appointment was made. I received a call that they were double booked and I'd have to change my appointment. I left work early to take an earlier appointment. When we got there for our 4th express pick up, I saw my name on the board for 3 different times, one was for the original time! When we got in the car the check engine light was on!! I also pointed out that the tire tread was well worn. The hatch wasn’t latching properly as well. We decided since there was a manufacturer warranty we would take it to the dealership. We found out the camshaft position sensor needed replacement plus a new latch and shock adjustment would be required for the lift gate. We chose to return the car. It had taken two months and five 2.5 hour round trips to CarMax only to get a car that needed more work. The only option to get the refund is by mail! If the check gets lost, we will then start the process all over again and have to wait an additional month for that large amount of money. We lost time and money due to leaving work early and the excessive long drives back and forth to CarMax. This has been nothing but problem after problem. Also, be aware that CarMax charges a $399 fee on top of your purchase price. There is a notice posted at CarMax that states the fee isn't required by law. However, you are required to pay this mysterious fee on top of your purchase price."
