"A great place to have dinner with a significant other or family. The food is so fresh and delicious. The service is great, and everyone is super friendly. I’ve been here a few times. And I’m sure I’ll come back again."
"The ideal image of your local Italian restaurant. Great appetizers, great mains, great wines. I have come here multiple times with my wife and family, as it has something for everyone. For all the ostentation of SF Italian food. Amarena brings the cuisine back to its roots. P.S., the owner is actually Italian! Ask him about Italy."
"The grilled octopus was wonderful. Highly recommend. Aperol spritz was great. Really welcoming and friendly staff and owner. The ambiance is amazing, really cool place to have a date or hang out with friends and family."
"I've spent about 3 months in Italy during my 5 times there and I can boldly claim that this was one of my top 3 Italian dinners of my life (others were in Venice, Italy and New York). The pesto was captivating. Our mouths melted at the sight of Linguine alle vongole. The dim, cozy Italian atmosphere greatly enhanced my experience. Undoubtedly one of the main reasons I had such a great time in San Francisco."
"If you really need to yell, but you're sick of doing it into a pillow or alone in your car, this place is perfect. If you go during a busy time, the only way you can communicate is by yelling. It's a never ending cycle. The more other people yell, the more you need to yell. At certain points I just nodded and smiled when my girlfriend was talking. It seemed to be a sufficient reaction most the time. Anyway, the food here was delicious, but I was a little bummed about the portion size. I got around ten raviolis. It was good for my GERD, but not my hunger."
