Reviews of Heroic Italian San Francisco
"I have only been to the SF location once which is shared with a local wine shop. I was a regular at the now-closed Santa Monica location. I have met both brothers (very friendly) who own the business and wouldn't be surprised to see more locations pop up in the San Francisco Bay Area. My go to order is the Mt Edna Salad and Chicken Tetrazzini sandwich (which tastes like your grandma's chicken pot pie) or OMG sandwich. Their hot sauce is fresh, made in house. Definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the mood for a hearty sandwich with fresh ingredients and well-toasted bread."
"A sammy and a drink you wouldnt expect to pay 25 plus bucks for this. My mistake for not checking the prices as the dont have a menu besides online. Now i saw the pictures and thought that looks pretty big but its not. For reference i put my average size hand next to. it this thing aint 6 inch long and yet they charge a arm and a leg for this mediocre excuse for a sandwich. Omg is a fitting name because OMG i just got ripped off."
"Got the OMG sandwich and the shrimp spaghetti. The sandwich was good but I also think the sandwiches down the street at Rossi's are better for $13 vs $19 (that's what will get you saying omg). Now the spaghetti, the shrimp tasted like a cooked cocktail shrimp, definitely not a $22 shrimp spaghetti. The sauce was fine but the lack of fresh seafood for a $22 dish is wild. Way better places to eat in the Castro than here! Also, I saw the owner comments about how the imported meat is expensive but you barely get any so I don't feel like that justifies the price."
"Was hesitant to try the very well reviewed $17 OMG sandwich due to its exorbitant price. But it is aptly named, OMG I spent $17($21+with tip) on this sandwich. This is roughly six inches with very sparse amount of meat or ingredients listed on the menu. The bread is pretty good but not anything to rave about. This is half a sandwich not a full sandwich."
"Sandwiches: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Overall: You will be saying OMG when you eat the OMG! The extended review... Sandwich: OMG - 5/5 - The flavor on this was awesome. The bread was nice and fresh and the meats with the spreads made for a nice flavor combination. The pricing on the menu could be a little bit high compared to other sandwich places I've been to but the flavor was undeniably awesome. Service: 5/5 - David, the owner, was super friendly and helpful in explaining all of the sandwich. His passion resonated when he was describing the menu. You could tell he was very proud of the quality he was providing. Ambiance: 4/5 - So there are a few tables outside to enjoy. The only issue is that it's hard to see that there is a sandwich shop sitting in the middle of a wine shop. There was some marketing outside on the sidewalk but I think it wasn't enough to take advantage of foot traffic."
