"Took the car in for a wheel alignment today, the initial estimate was $139. When I arrived I was surprised that they didn't ask me why I was aligning the car, all the other places I called did. So I let them know that over the weekend I changed the rack and pinion, outer tie rod ends, lower control arms. So I sign their estimate form, but she didn't give me a copy, which I found strange. Thats when the lady at the counter, Karan, informed me that since the mechanic might have to do more work because of all those parts I changed, might be more cost, which I can understand, but they would call if they had any questions. She also said they would call when the car was ready. After 4 hours I called, and she said the car was ready. So when I arrived to pay the bill I was surprised when she said $239, not $139. So I questioned Karen about the bill since I never got a call letting me know of the new estimate. She just responded by saying, you wanted your car drivable don't you, of course I did. And she added I told you earlier it would be more. I just informed her that's its customary to inform the customer before the work is done, not after. But she didn't say anything. I gave them 3 stars because they did do a descent job on the alignment, but not giving me a copy of the estimate, not calling to notify me the car was ready, and not getting prior authorization of the higher amount and her dismissive demeanor about the extra charge, is why I docked them a couple of stars. To be fair I do agree that an additional fee was appropriate in my case because my alignment was way off before I took it to them, just wished I would have known before the work not afterwards, $239 does seem a little steep for me for an alignment. Not sure I would recommend them given this experience."
