Reviews of SHAM VEGAN KITCHEN
"This place is a sham. I confirm what other reviewers wrote, it's not all vegan, in fact it's not even mostly vegan, and the name Sham Vegan Kitchen doesn't appear anywhere in the restaurant, on the menu or on the sign outside; it only appears on the website. I was seated, and thought I would stay anyway when I found out through an awkward exchange that it wasn't a vegan restaurant. I ordered from the vegan part of the menu. The person taking my order kept making jokes that weren't funny like "the water is vegan." I don't think he was mocking me, but I dont really know. As I waited for my food I noticed how unsettled, confused and uncomfortable I felt. Do I really want to drop $30 on dinner here, I wondered... I didn't so I just got up and left before my food came without telling anyone I was leaving; I had never done thar before anywhere. But I don't owe them the courtesy of an explaination. All I had was the vegan water so I didn't even leave a tip. I felt deceived. Don't eat here."
"Not a vegan restaurant. For the lunch combo, you will be upcharged $2 for vegan bread, despite it and naan being the same price. Sub-par to average food. The yellow dal tasted like chili and asofoetida predominantly -- I only ate it because I needed calories. The samosa and chana were decent Overall I would not recommend it nor come back. I paid $15 (before tip) for what I consider a small amount of food. At namaste spiceland in Pasadena, for example, you will pay $8 for 2.5 times the food and at a much higher quality If it weren't for the price and the mis-advertisement I would give it 3 stars. The cost and quality cannot justify any more than that"
"Visited Sham Vegan Kitchen/India's Oven, and really happy with the whole experience! Clean and modernized restaurant, service was top notch (felt like a 4-5 star restaurant when the staff wiped the plates off before placing them), food came out fairly quickly, and most importantly, it was delicious! We chose some vegan options and it felt light and refreshing - we ended up with a lot of extra food! If you get the opportunity, meeting the owner, Sham! You can tell he genuinely cares and it's shown through his smile and personality! A must try in West LA!"
"First time here. Lovely staff and great food! The food was delicious! It says it’s a vegan restaurant but it’s not, it has vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. I went here with my mother on an early Sunday evening. My mom ordered the chicken dish. I order the peas rice, okra, and garlic naan for the table. As a plant based eater, I ordered the vegetarian kafta. Woah. The okra is soooo good. The rice was fresh. The naan was perfect. The bread not too thick and not too crunchy. Just a perfectly cooked naan. I highly recommend this place. A nice more upscale but relaxed atmosphere/ambience."
"NOT ALL VEGAN. I ordered on door dash thinking because it has vegan in the NAME OF THE RESTAURANT that it would in fact be vegan food. I received naan with real cheese and presumably with real dairy in the bread itself. It has been a really long time since I had dairy and my stomach and morals are really unhappy with me."
