Reviews of A-Town Glass & window
"Another great job by Manny, came over and gave us a honest very reasonable estimate and ordered our new sliding glass doors which failed years ago and installed all 4 as soon as the new glass arrived at his shop, if I could give 10 Stars I would."
"Manny saved us during the Thanksgiving holiday. We had a break in that involved storefront glass that needed to be secured and replaced."
"Manny did a great job replacing a broken sliding glass door for me. He had a difficult time getting the door in, due to the shipping issues in the US. He kept me up to date on what was going on and contacted before the due day to schedule installation. His installation too less time than he expected and he went over all the ins and outs of my new door before leaving. Thank you!"
"Very unprofessional. Manny and I setup a measure. He was late and assumed my wife didn’t need any of the information he gathered about the project. After a day of my own research, I texted him multiple times with questions about the project. After a lack of response he texts me saying he’s not talking the job. This (although frustrating) is somewhat understandable. However, after requesting the measurements he took multiple times, he still has not gotten back to me. I need the measurements to continue the project but he refuses to respond. So there you have it. Late, lazy, poor communication, and possibly sexist. It doesn't please me to write reviews like this but this was earned."
"My experience with A-town Glass was nothing short of awful at every turn. As a small business owner since 2007, I remain in awe at how any business can remain viable with such poor business practices as A-Town glass. I knew very little about window installation before the company with whom I contracted for window installation sent "Manny" or Manuel Carreon of A-town Glass to install the brand new Milgard windows. In his wake of what can only be described as an extremely painful lesson about vetting every professional I allow to work on my home, I learned a ton about improper installation and how much money, time, and anguish it can cost. At the end of this, I'm of the opinion that Manuel Carrera of A-Town Windows survives by working for the woefully uninformed, like myself. He certainly worked me from every angle possible. Had it not been for the watchful eyes of the honest industry professionals who were involved and who were overseeing my home efficiency upgrades, I may not have been alerted until it was too late that the installation was not to code and far below professional quality standards according to numerous professionals. This makes me concerned for how many other trusting, poorly informed people out there will continue to hire A-town Glass of Atascadero only to realize too late that their windows were not installed properly. Because I was under the guidance of the County of San Luis Obispo's Empower Program. I had access to advice, contractors, and industry professionals who evaluated the work in as it progressed. The more people saw the work of A-Town Glass, the more confirmation I received that the installation was unacceptable. More than six professionals who reviewed said: poor installation, not to code, and no care for water intrusion or aesthetic. At the advice of the San Luis Obispo County Empower Program, I requested that a Milgard representative visit my home and review the installation. Again, he said the work was not to code. At the end of my experience with A-Town Glass, I had to order new windows, repair the damage done by A-Town Glass and have them installed properly. Beyond the professionals mentioned, virtually every other professionals noted at first glance of the photos--without seeing them in person--identified that the windows were not installed to code. One of the professionals noted: He purposely broke the vapor barrier potentially putting the property at risk for water damage, during which time we have experienced several rainy days. All attempts to correct this installers work were inadequate. It wasn't enough that the installation was bad, to make matters worse, Manny attempted to argue with, intimidate, and silence the professionals who informed me of his improper workmanship. While the installation experience was plenty awful, Manny's unprofessionalism took another step further. On a day he returned to attempt to fix a poorly installed window, he engaged in inappropriate and unprofessional communication with me by initiating personal advancements that were extremely unprofessional for married man talking to a woman in her own home. After that conversation, I never let him set foot in my home again. While the financial matter was eventually settled with the company I had contracted to do the windows, Manny then attempted to threaten and extort money from me by claiming that he would have someone from the county review the work I was completing at my home if I didn't give him money. While this was a ludicrous threat--the home was under the close scrutiny and guidance of the San Luis Obispo County's Empower Program--the intent to extort money was crystal clear. 'Manny' of A-Town Glass not only caused unnecessary costly repairs due to poor installation practices, but he also exhibited an opportunistic and bully attitude towards myself and towards the individuals who ensured I was fully informed and engaged in inappropriate conversation that resulted in the need to ensure he never returned."
