"This shop tried to swindle me out of over a thousand dollars when all my car needed was coolant. I had been a happy customer for years and I'm not sure at what point they started lying to me about work being done on my car. This past time I went I felt I was being over charged. I looked up the cost of parts and estimate of time the job would take and they were overcharging me 500$. I told them I couldn't afford the work and I took my car to another shop. The other shop let me know right away that there was nothing wrong with my car and I did not need anything fixed like 4 star said I did. 4 star added coolant for me and that was the only thing it needed. I don't know if they thought they could get away with this because I don't know much about cars, but I would definitely stear clear of this place."

"Summary: this is not a trustworthy shop. I was taking my wife's car and my car to this shop for about a year and a half. Everyone seemed generally honest and the prices reasonable. They didn't seem to push for extra unnecessary services. However, I caught them overcharging for labor not performed and parts not actually used. I only realized this because I bothered to look up the actual repair process for one particular older car that had some sensors fail. The shop provided an estimate and final bill that I approved and paid for. But when I scrutinized the bill and what Jose had told me about the repair process, I suspected something was wrong. I called and spoke with Jose (front desk) about the issue, giving them the benefit of the doubt. After he discussed the case with his mechanics, he told me that the estimating software had the incorrect labor time listed for the job. He also said he made a mistake ordering the extra parts and his mechanic allegedly did not tell him that he ended up not using the parts. He said he'd have the owner call me to refund the overcharges. When the owner called, she was not apologetic about the extra $200 that had been charged for parts not used and labor time not performed. No sorry. No explanations. No offer to make things right on future repair/work. I was frankly surprised by the attitude, and that's what tipped me very negatively on the business. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. But assuming all this was just an "honest mistake," I still wouldn't trust this shop again. They apparently do not have a process in place where the mechanics report actual labor time or parts used. So if the front desk provides you an estimate with parts and labor, there is zero chance your final bill will be less - EVEN IF THEY DO NOT USE THE PARTS. The owner must be aware of this and is not apologetic about overcharges when caught. This leads me to believe it is not just an honest mistake. Contrast that with the new mechanic I found who has twice gone out of his way to be 100% honest and open about the cost of parts. He has explained clearly when and why he didn't end up using parts that were on the original estimate and made sure I was charged accurately, even in cases where he could have easily overcharged (for example amount of refrigerant for an A/C service). Maybe for a smog service this place is okay. But anything more involved, buyer beware."

"These guys are the best! Stoked to give a 5 star here. I was in a bad way when my car broke down on the freeway. I wasn’t even supposed to be in Arroyo Grande. They fit me in. They did say they couldn’t do that all the time, but I’m stoked Jose did his magic. And then I met Windy! Felt like I was talking to a celebrity. This woman owned business is awesome. I almost hesitate to write this so they don’t even more busy therefore stressed! But they seem to handle all of it well, and I’m so stoked I was sent to a nice and helpful honest trustworthy mechanic when my car broke down. Thanks Windy and Jose!"
