"The lady on the phone was very helpful, and said 1.5 hours for routine car maintenance: tire rotation, checking filters. My car is an EV so it doesn't need oil changes. I showed up at 7 AM for my appointment. They were late to take the car in. When they finally started, the service rep said it'll take 2 hours instead of 1.5 hours. I accepted anyway. 3 hours later and I'm still waiting for my car. Very unprofessional for how expensive the service package is when you purchase a car here. Stevens Creek Toyota, we've purchased two cars from you. How are you going to make this right?"

I've only used the free oil changes you get when you buy a new car, and John Smith and gaurdo have been extremely respectful, knowledgeable, and accomodating to my schedule. John Smith helped me use my wheel and tire package to replace a bad tire. Love him for that."

"===== Short version ===== Q: What does it take for Stevens Creek Toyota to issue the 2nd key fob (that didn't come with the car due to chip shortage)? A: Two visits, and 6 hours of waiting because they over promised each time that it will be done in no time. BTW, they won't even apologize or anything for their misguidances. ===== Longer version ===== [First visit]. I went there on Dec 31 for 2nd key fob and eneded up wasting 3 hours to be told that they don't have the key fob despite me double checking at least 2 times in advance to make sure that they have it. They didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. Issue 1: Not securing parts despite multiple check ins in advance. After getting the notification from Toyota that the 2nd key fob can be duplicated (from the 1st key), I made the service reservation. On the online form, I explicitly asked them to make sure that they have the parts. One day before the appointment, they called me to confirm my appointment. I asked them if they have secured the part - and the person on the phone assured me that as soon as I made the appointment reservation, they have ordered the parts. Issue 2: Not respecting my time and setting up a wrong expectation to have me waste my time on the last day of the year when I would have preferred to spend with my family. Based on my research, the process usually takes 30~60min. When I showed up for my appointment (10 min early to respect their time), the service advisor told me that due to labor shortage, I should be expecting 3 hrs or less. As this was way longer than I expected, I asked if they have courtesy vehicles to drop me off my home - and they said they don't have any. I was thinking of taking Uber home but the service advisor told me that it should be done in less than 3 hrs, thus he advised me to wait at the waiting area. After 3 hrs and 10 minutes, as I didn't get any update, I went back to him only to find out that they don't have the right part. If I didn't check in with him proactively(?), I would not have been able to get timely update. Also, he tells me that unless I come back on a day he is in the office, there is no guarantee that my case will get handled with priority given the 3hrs+ wait that I had today. [Second visit] Jan 12 after I got a call from them that they secured the parts (=programable key fob). The service advisor told me to come in early so that he can have my car looked into with priority given the hassle on the first visit. So, I arrived there at 6:50am. Checked in the vehicle at 7am (=their official start of the working hours). I was told that it should be done in one hour or so. Waited couple of hours but no words from them. So, I went back to the service manager asking what is going on. He checked and told me that the program is currently being downloaded and it will take another 30~45min. I asked him when the "service" started and he told me 20min after I checked in. So, what he is telling me is that it takes them 2.5hrs-ish to program a key fob and this doesn't sound right to me. Either they were not honest with me or they are really slow. (I looked it up on Reddit and this sounded like less than 30min job to me). Overall, I am not happy with the overall experience I had today. I might change my rating after I finish getting my service but based on my interactions so far, I doubt that they deserve any better rating."
