"Mavericks Half Moon Bay is renowned for its colossal waves and world-class surfing. This iconic surf spot gained fame for the annual Titans of Mavericks competition, attracting elite surfers. The dramatic coastal cliffs and unpredictable ocean conditions make Mavericks a challenging yet exhilarating destination for surf enthusiasts. Beyond surfing, the area offers stunning natural beauty and is a popular attraction for both locals and tourists alike. Parking is very limited. This lot offers about 40 spaces including 2 spaces for people with disabilities. There are also two "Honey buckets" (portable restrooms) which are available to the public. Come early, as you will most likely not find any parking after 11.00am, especially on the weekends. From this parking lot you can explore the beach, take a hike up to Pillar Point or fly a kite. There are many things to do and photograph. Getting in and out of the lot is not always easy, as people become are not as kind as they should be. Leaving your valuables in or on the car is also highly discouraged. This spot is best visited on weekdays were a less people, less dogs and stress. We highly recommend you pick up a cup of coffee at Dawn Patrol Coffee on Harvard Ave."

Not so hidden spot anymore so come early parking is very limited after 11am . Pack a lunch and no worries about bathrooms there are 3 portable units bring back up toilet paper just in case,it gets moist out here. This is also a place you don't want to turn your back to the waves. Famous Mavericks surf compilation here during the winter months. There is the west side Jetty you may fish here with out a fishing license, DFG regulations apply here to all. RECOMMEND TO STAY ON THE BEACH AND VISIT DURING THE MINUS TIDE TO ENJOY THE MARINE WILDLIFE IN TIDE POOLS. F.Y.I. IF YOU PLAN TO WALK ON THE JETTY WARNING SNEAKER WAVES , VERY SLIPPERY ROCKS AND KEEP YOUR CAR KEYS ,CELL PHONES IN YOUR DEEPEST POCKET OR BACK PACK. ONCE YOU DROP ITEM INTO THE JETTY YOU MAY NEVER SEE IT AGAIN."
