Reviews of Spicy House
"Looks may be deceiving... Ordered the Orange Chicken from Spicy House and had to immediately throw it into the trash. The Chicken was definitely a low-quality Cut, and it was definitely under-cooked. Spongey, flavorless, and inedible. I will not be spending anymore money at Spicy House... And I suggest for the good of public health that you AVOID THIS PLACE AND THEIR RANCID ORANGE CHICKEN."
"I am so happy we tried Spicy House because it was so good! The place is decorated colorfully and smells great. They serve complimentary tea with your meal, which hit the spot. Our server helped us with choosing from the menu. We were impressed with the vegetarian options and got the kung pao tofu, vegetable chow mein, and the eggplant, pepper, and potato dish. The plates are to share and you get a lot of bang for your buck. The flavors were strong and spicy but not overly sweet. We will definitely be coming back."
"While on the hunt for dumplings we found Spicy House. Im sure glad we did because it was incredible. Inside the place exudes classic chinese restaurant charm. The ladies who run the place were all smiles, efficient and friendly-ish which only added to the old school vibe. We started out with several cold dishes from the bar. Smashed cucumber, spicy beef and pig ears were all expertly crafted and enjoyed. Food wise well, their menu is massive and while we were there for dumplings we ordered so much more. The menu is broken down into proteins, ingredients and preparation. Honestly there seems to be some of the same dishes listed under each, though this might be a lost in translation situation. In any case every dish we had was great. My favorites were the "Boiled" #124, Boiled 2 Kinds w/Hot Sauce. I chose beef and fish. They call this place Spicy House for a reason. My mouth tingled for an hour after eating this dish. So much Sichuan pepper, perfect boiled dish! Another dish, "Featured Specials" #16, Stir Fried Chicken Cubes w/Hot Pepper was a hit. Though be warned, a cube of chicken is really just the skin with very little meat. Surprisingly dumplings are actually located under "Noodles" where we ordered #201, Chunking Style Wonton and #193, Steamed Bun (Xiao Long Bao). Both were well prepared and I love that their wrappers were on the thicker side which made them feel sturdy with a satisfying chew. Spicy House has over 200 menu items and in all honesty, I cannot wait to try some different dishes next time. What a treat!"
"Delicious. One of our top 2 favorite Chinese restaurants, now. The menu is huge and has more seafood and noodle options than the other Chinese restaurants that we have been to in town. If you love spicy Szechuan Chinese food, you’ll be happy. If you need something milder, they have lots of other options for you to try. The least impressive stuff was the items in their side item buffet in the front but I rarely like those anyway."
"I just found out this Chinese Restaurant during we going to San Diego for the July 4Th fireworks. So many restaurants were closed earlier because of holidays. But it still was opening when we arrived around 7:40PM. I didn’t expect too much, but the food was so delicious and surprising me. The lady was very nice and give great recommendation. We have 4 people, ordered 5 dishes: Ma Po Tofu: Spicy and numb. Roasted Fish: a whole fish with fresh vegetables. Spicy Cold dish: you can choose any three different meat. ( we choose spicy beef, non spicy pork tongue, and pork ears) Shredded Pork: light spicy and sweet ( my favorite) Pork Hock soup with white bean. spent $108(Including tips) , very good price. Actually, they still have a lot of NON SPICY FOOD, if you cannot eat too Spicy, just tell them, they will give you good recommendations."
