"The Cuban meals were delish. Really homestyle comfort food. We will return soon."
"The potato balls are an absolute must. The sauce pairing intensifies the delicious flavor explosion in your mouth. The environment is relaxed and aesthetically pleasing. They have WiFi available and lots of coffees and pastries. The vibe is great you will do the happy food dance. Immaculate La Jolla must try!"
"Family owned and operated this new restaurant brings comida Cubano to La Jolla. The empanadas are a must. They all come out fresh and hot and are so good. Try the original Cubano of course if it’s your first time. It’s like a ham panini but way better. They also have all the coffees drinks and pastries for a quick fly by to jumpstart your day. They do have a patio which I would imagine is dog friendly. It’s off the main drive right into La Jolla and is a nice little restaurant."
"Though the reviews posted is under 30 at the time of my visit, they were mostly positive, thus gave it a go. My stepdad is from Santa Clara and cooked quite a bit and know what home cooked Cuban food taste like…of course different methods, seasoning, palates vary, so I’m not expecting a similar flavor experience. I’ve had Cubanos in Miami, at Versailles and David’s which are top notch spots. I’m sorry to say, this is one of the worst Cubano sandwiches I’ve ever had. Soggy bread, maybe due to the excessive spread, a bit over seasoned with salt and didn’t like the bread (pan) and pork was very dry (see photo). The beef empanada was ok, again, salty. Unfortunately, I didn’t finish the other half of the Cubano sandwich. Every cook is different, so maybe just the person preparing it today. The service was a bit slow as the counter person was making drinks/coffee, taking orders, taking food to tables, answering the phone…busy, but polite and professional. I went in excited about HK, however for me, it’s a miss. Maybe I’ll go back for brunch and give another try."
"Havana Kitchens Casual Cuban is the restaurant La Jolla needs. We loved the food we ordered today. The empanadas were so fresh and delicious. I also appreciate the fact they are a family-owned and run business. I’m looking forward to returning, and I wish everything but the best for this place."
