Reviews of Rikka Fika
"Rika Fika is the famous specialty coffee and small batch bakery that I've been seeing all over TikTok, and I've had this place bookmarked for a while now, so I was ecstatic to finally try it. Being a fan of matcha lattes, I wanted to visit Rika Fika to try the Matcha Strawberry Latte. It was absolutely delicious and beautifully made. The only comment I have is that I wish more cafes carried other plant-based milk options besides Oat Milk. Oat milk is relatively high in sugar, and most brands are ultra-processed, containing additives that are not entirely healthy. The space itself is just gorgeous, spacious, and the staff is very friendly. I also took home a financier with almonds and fig, and it was perfection. I'd love to come back to Rika Fika again and get the Matcha Strawberry Latte."
"Great coffee addition to the East Village. Reminds me of the numerous "Asian style" coffee shops in LA, specifically Maru, which it highly resembles, and the Kumquat/Loquat places. Specifically, very good coffee, a small selection of very fun sounding, original drinks and some "snacks only" level pastries. This would be a great place to take a meeting or work on a lap top. The space has been used by a prior coffee shop and it retains its concrete heavy, brutalist vibe from before. This is not a place for a quick cup of drip and a breakfast sandwich, more like someplace you go if you really, actually want a good espresso drink and/or want to sit around for a bit."
"Can’t wait for this place to fully open! I’ve gotten the espresso + milk twice now and both times the milk texturing and integration has been phenomenal. I can tell they use quality coffee beans for their espresso. I also got the S.O. on the Rocks which tastes of similarly high quality, and is very fun drinking a single origin coffee on a single large ice cube. The canelés are also fantastic. I’m hoping that they start using dine-in drinkware when they fully open and add WiFi so I can work there."
"A super cute coffee and tea pop-up shop located in downtown San Diego! My sister took me here--she had been wanting to try it after seeing this place on Instagram and TikTok. When we arrived at 10:45 AM, the line was already on the sidewalk, with 6 parties in front of us. However, the wait was not that long. I think we waited 15-20 minutes. The menu primarily features coffee and tea, with some specialty drinks sprinkled in (please see the attached images!). You can watch the baristas making the drinks as you wait in line; they look very intricately made. There is a small selection of baked goodies offered in limited quantities. After ordering, you only have to wait for a few more minutes, not too long. The drinks are smaller in size but a perfect portion, reminiscent of those in Europe or Australia. Due to it being a pop-up shop, unfortunately, seating is very limited. It appeared that only three groups were able to sit inside, mostly just two-person couples. Hopefully, this pop-up shop turns into a permanent location! My sister ordered strawberry milk , and I ordered coffee espresso + oat milk. So delicious!! I highly recommend giving it a try, and a plus is that sub-oat milk is included in the price of the drink. Definitely coming back again!"
"San Diego is in desperate need of a good coffee shop. There are hundreds of mediocre coffee shops and I would drive up to LA on weekends to visit good coffee shops. That’s no longer needed ! Rikka Fika has great coffee and matcha. I ordered the espresso + milk drink and the coffee was perfectly roasted - they really know how to brew coffee. The acidity was balanced and no bitterness or burnt flavor. I tried the strawberry matcha latte and it was a very unique drink - very refreshing and the matcha was of good quality. I tried the matcha cheesecake pastry and I didn’t particularly like it but I’m not a fan of cheesecakes but wanted to give it a try. They had other great pastries but I don’t eat gluten so couldn’t try any of them. Hopefully they can come out with Gf options."
