Manpuku Japanese BBQ Torrance
About the Business
Manpuku Japanese BBQ Torrance is a premier chain of Japanese barbecue restaurants located at 1870 West Carson Street in Torrance, California. The concept first originated in Tokyo over 70 years ago, with a focus on bringing the best-tasting dishes and most enjoyable dining experience to customers. The name "Manpuku" translates to "to be happy with a full stomach" in Japanese, reflecting the satisfaction that comes from indulging in delicious grilled meats and vegetables.
At Manpuku, customers can experience the traditional Japanese BBQ, known as yakiniku, where bite-sized cuts of raw beef, pork, seafood, and vegetables are cooked to perfection at the table over gas or charcoal grills. Each piece is cooked to the customer's personal taste, providing a unique and interactive dining experience. The restaurant offers a variety of menu items, including signature dishes like Beef Tongue with Tokyo Negi, as well as seasonal specialties that change throughout the year.
The key to a tasty BBQ at Manpuku is the perfect balance of meat and sauce. The dipping sauce, made from a stock of vegetables and fruits, has remained unchanged since the restaurant's inception 80 years ago. Fresh vegetables are sourced directly from Manpuku's contract farms, ensuring only the highest quality ingredients are used to complement the yakiniku experience.
Customers can sign up to receive updates on tastings, seasonal menu changes, and special events at Manpuku Japanese BBQ Torrance. Whether you're looking to enjoy a special day or evening with loved ones, Manpuku promises to fill both your heart and stomach with its delicious and authentic Japanese barbecue offerings.

Reviews
"I don't want you to think that the food here is not good. It was fine. I just think that this is not a fine dining establishment, although it certainly attempts to put itself in that category by price. You should realize that wafer thin slices of meat spread out on a platter create a bountiful impression, but in terms of weight there is truly little there. Now as to what was there, the quality of the beef was excellent if somewhat lacking in flavor. The best thing I had were the tasty scallops. Be prepared to pay for what you get, albeit enjoyable."
"Authentic Japanese BBQ. By far the best in California. The meats on offer are incredible. I visit every time I pass through from the UK."
"The meat was pretty good! we ordered the tongue, skirt, pork belly, and galbi. We also had the beef stew, tartare, salad, and dessert. The food was good but I would say that the service is a bit fast because they ask about getting new dishes a bit too often so it felt a bit rushed."
"Really good Japanese BBQ. The kimchi was stellar and the shrimp was also a favorite!!"
"Very tasty food but don’t expect a good value. 6 small slices of Kobe filet costs $39. My family has sophisticated taste bud and can tell a difference but I am a peasant and feels it just tastes like well marinated beef."
