"We got a table quickly and it was busy, but we saw a few tables sit down after us and leave before we got our food. Once we got the food, it was perfectly okay. The hash browns were not good and everything was under seasoned. We won’t be back."
"If you want Hot Rod Diner, I'd highly recommend going 7 miles down the road to the Hot Rod Diner in Hilmar. My family and I went to this Turlock location for brunch, and everything overall was pretty subpar. All of the breakfasts were very filling, however the chicken tender lunch and the sampler platter was really dry. On top of that, after being asked if we'd like any sauce for our food, we were charged 25 cents for EACH of these tiny thimbles of sauce. I have no problem paying extra for something, but a full sized sampler platter and a chicken tender lunch should come with just a little bit more than maybe 3 Tbsp of ranch, blue cheese, buffalo sauce, etc. especially considering the price of the food compared to the quality of the food."
"Starting with the positives - atmosphere of this place seemed pretty good, looks like an old diner which we liked as we are not from America and loved the music playing inside and outside! Unfortunately the food was pretty bad, the chicken tenders and chips were very dry and the hot dog with chilli was scary to look at. Being English and too polite for our own good, we nodded when asked if everything was ok (maybe everything is ok for American standards?) but then didn’t tip. When walking out our waitress shouted to have a good afternoon and thanked us for tipping! Didn’t really appreciate the sarcasm - sorry it’s because your food was horrific! All in all, the worst food we had on our 3 week road trip."
"Plenty of indoor and outdoor dining with lots of parking. Classic and fun diner environment with friendly service. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Depends on the day, The service can be a bit slow and I wouldn't expect much in that department but the food was great! We had the turkey club which was super tasty and the corned beef hash breakfast which had small portions. Loved the sweet potatoe fries! The mimosas were served in an average glass and were average. Would recommend at least once to try!"
"We sat down, had to go find someone to take our order, someone came and took drink orders and then we waited and waited for a waitress who was not the drink order waitress to come take our order. The coffee was watery, the mimosas were hot and basically tasted like OJ. We waited so long for the food by the time we got it we were not hungry. All the glasses had something in them, were not cleaned well. Food was OK but not worth the wait. If you are going for atmosphere don't be hungry. We were sadly disappointed."
