Reviews of NBC Sports Grill & Brew
"Slightly more convenient than eating inside of Universal is the biggest upside. We decided to skip the long waits inside the park and try City Walk for dinner before leaving Universal Hollywood this go around. This place had the best reviews and had no wait so we grabbed a table. The place is clean and the staff was nice. Service was alright as we only saw the waitress to order and pay and the place was far from busy. Menu is what you would expect from a sports bar with slightly higher-end options when it comes to burgers and chicken sandwiches. Prices are pretty in line or slightly better than what you'd find in the park, but the food we tried wasn't Impressive. Kids menu burger came out so charred it was inedible for a 6-year-old, chicken tenders were fine though. Wife and I ordered burgers and both were decent, but extremely greasy and heavy. The place feels like they just coat everything in butter before it's served and it feels a little over the top. Fried pickles were good, but the star, for me, was their macaroni and cheese. I should've gotten the entree version instead of the burger. Not much more worth saying about the food and the service overall was just ok. Not a place we'll go back to, but save a await if your looking for some hearty food in a hurry after Universal. To be fair, the place is nice and looks to be a lot more fun later at night; just temper your expectations if your eating with your family. Any time I see a place like this that looks clean and organized, but the food falls short, you can usually bet it was just an off time. I think a lot of people will like this place, just didn't work that well for us today."
"Definitely a spot we're returning to. Fun cool place. Food was delicious! Shouldn't be surprising but food was better than we expected. Great tasting food! Returning to this spot vs others to try more food options! Great location spot too!"
"We stopped by to grab a drink and some grub after a morning of traveling. The place wasn’t too busy, but they clearly didn’t have enough staff manning the bar. The poor single bartender was running around and even had to warn us it was going to be a minimum 5 mins before she could even take a drink order. A few minutes later what appeared to be a manager or supervisor came and served us (not by request, but perhaps seeing the amount of people). We got our drinks and they were made well and our food order in. We just got their chips, pork rinds, and guac and an order of fried pickles. The guac plate was good, I’ve had better guac plenty of times, but it was unique with the pork rinds. The fried pickles were ok, way too much oil and pickle cuts were just meh. Overall, ok place. Nothing exciting, but if you’re on the city walk looking for a drink this may do it for ya."
"As you probably expected, food here is pretty pricey, which isn't outlandish because it's so close to a large attraction. I'll start out by saying that service was very good. The food here is average, not great, but not terrible. One thing that i notices here is that there is a ton of salt in many of the dishes we tried. The amount of salt in their nachos was so unbearable that we didn't end up finishing them. The tater tots I had were also way too salty. The other complaint I have is about the size of their glasses. The glasses are tiny and I ended up drinking around 6 or 7 glasses of water before the end of our visit. I probably wouldn't come back here, even though the chicken sandwich I had wasn't terrible. For 3 normal meals and a kids meal, the total bill was around $75 which was somewhat expected. I just wish the food had been better."
