West End PB

"I was walking with some friends home from the beach and we decided to stop by west end for a beer. We walked in through the patio and I noticed that there was someone cooking something on the side of the building, I stopped by to ask what he was cooking. He said that he was cooking Philly Steak sandwiches, I couldn’t help to notice his lack of sanitation in his work area plus there were no refrigeration, he had some chicken cooked and it looked like it had been there for hours at room temperature, the uncooked beef for the steak sandwich was also sitting there with no refrigeration. Not a good first impression. My friends got a table on patio and I went inside to the bar to get some beers, I stood at the end of the bar for about 10 minutes patiently waiting to get the bartenders attention with no luck. I went around to the other side of the bar and continued to wait to get the bartenders attention as I continued to notice his inability to do his job. Finally I raised my hand to get his attention, he said something like yes I do see you with an attitude and said to me What do you want? I’m sorry but that is not the way you treat a customer that is coming to your establishment. Obviously this is not a place where you want to go get food unless you want to get food poisoning and not a place where you want to get beer because they have a lousy bartender who is rude to his customers."

"We had a really bad experience at this place, we waited for over 20 minutes so we could order drinks at the bar, the bartender ignored me first then to acknowledge that I was waiting for him to take my order to just ask me " what do you want? I've seen you already. I said " Yes indeed I've been waiting for over 20 minutes" he just told me " yeah, what do you want?" I ordered three beers for my wife, and my two friends he denied me the service by justifying himself saying " I need to see who are these drinks for."Honestly I have never been treated like this in any other place either in la Jolla or Pacific Beach."

"It's a dive bar. If that's what you're looking for that's what you'll get. A motorcycle gang took up half of the bar when I was there. The only thing that saved my experience was the partender who was cool as hell. Her name was Nicole. She also remembered my name by the end of the night which got her extra points."

"Awesome brunch spot! Food came out fast & delicious! Honestly avoided this spot at first because it seemed super fancy & expensive— but the menu & vibe is very approachable, and you get an excellent value for awesome food. Coffee was surprisingly rich & really good! (*Not* watered down diner coffee) Beautiful waterfront view of Torrey State Reserve area! Definitely will be back!"
