Reviews of The Auld Fella - Wilshire
"This place surpassed my expectations, the food was absolutely amazing. The service and the atmosphere is good here. Gabi was my server and she was very attentive, helpful, down to earth & sweet! She will take great care of ya! The drinks are top notch and the staff had great energy. We will be returning! (Also, I love the aesthetic of the restaurant)"
"Sunday Lunch time we drive down here from Santa Clarita to check it out. Well worth the 35 minute drive. Nice big airy bar with modern decor, friendly staff, thank you Carl, and great food. I had the roast beef carvery and Her Ladyship had Fish 'n Chips. We shared the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Our plates were well clean when we were done. ( I prefer my mashed potatoes more heavily salted but I still are them all ). On their menu they say the Irish coffee is made with Bushmills. But fair play to Carl I noticed he made it using Tullamore Dew, If it's good enough for The Buena Vista in San Fran., who are we to argue. So well done Carl. I'll be back for sure but would arrive later to catch the live Irish music 5-8 on Sunday."
"I was quite surprised when I entered Auld Fella. The dim-lit ambiance and framed black-and-white stills of classic bands hung on walls created a nice aesthetic for the perfect date night. The owners have done well with cluttered space they had to work with. Of the many intriguing main course options, I went with a tired and true favorite of mine, the Shepherd’s pie. It did not disappoint. That said, I was starving and partially sober, and probably could have eaten two servings of this delectable skillet of minced meat and mashed potatoes. There where no peas and carrots in this one however (though I’m not complaining!). The bangers and mash also came in a skillet, and had the prefect sweet/savory flavor with the caramelized onions and sausage. Overall, if your a meat and potato’s type of person, this is the spot for you! My only small complaint was the service. There were two servers waiting our table at different times, and I don’t think either of them knew the other was serving us. It was a bit confusing… One was nice and the other acted like they wanted were counting down the minutes until their shift ended. I’m not usually one to complain about this, but it’s the only reason I can’t justify giving a 5 stars. All things considered, I would certainly recommend The Auld Fella if you live in the area. [SIDE NOTE] I think it’s hilarious when a restaurant puts on their menu “Jidori” and “wagyu” like it’s some 5 star Michelin gastronomic ingredient. We all know it’s not from Japan… but I just find that funny."
"Such a great atmosphere, friendly staff w zero attitude. bartender and waiters are fun to chat and go out of there way to remember you and chat it up. Drinks are unique and food is solid, love the sliders, quinoa salad, mushroom app, yummy! Great spot to meet friends and live music some nights."
