Schroeder's is a historic Bavarian-inspired beer hall located at 240 Front Street in San Francisco, California. Originally founded in 1893, Schroeder's has been a favorite spot for San Francisco residents and business professionals for over 120 years. The restaurant has a friendly atmosphere and is conveniently located in the downtown Financial District.
After being destroyed in the 1906 earthquake and fire, Schroeder's was reopened at its current location by Henry Schroeder, who played a key role in the city's reconstruction. Initially popular among male clientele, the restaurant began welcoming female patrons in the 1970s.
Under new ownership by Andrew Chun and Jan Wiginton, Schroeder's has undergone a revitalization with a new facade, interior detailing, and communal seating. Chef Paul Ortiz has introduced a modern German menu, adding a fresh twist to the traditional dishes that Schroeder's is known for.

"Out with Hoboken Joe leaving our mark on a few watering holes, even had a few with Crazycat and his lil Pleasure Point Attagirl down at Goosebump Charlie's. Then Attagirl yells out she wants a big ol sausage! Well, that was our clue to Lickity Split outa there, so we headed straight to Schroeder's for a Bratwurst. And, I'll tell you what....it was Amazing! 5 Stars ☆☆☆☆☆"
"This was the most AMAZING German food I've ever had...and I was stationed in Germany for 4 years, so that's saying something! The Pork Shank was perfectly prepared...and the sauerkraut, red cabbage and mash potatoes put the whole meal into legendary status. Topped it off with some incredible Hefeweizen beer and you have a meal made for Odin. Then to totally complete the experience...the service was superb! Fast, friendly...and I even got a misordered beer on the house! Trust me, this will be a stop whenever I'm in the City that Rocks!"
"Took my parents here for a unique experience and they loved it! We ordered two beer flights for drinks, and for food got Kartoffel tots, Jager schnitzel, Bavarian Crispy Pork Shank, and One sausage platter with two sausages - Frankfurter and Sicilian. The portions are huge but we did our best to finish most of it. Inside the restaurant, the area that's nearer to the entrance is for bar/low-key hangout where I saw some people grab drinks together after work or for dates. Further in from the entrance is the dining area where I saw some people sit down and order meals. Price is pretty reasonable given that this is SF / their portions are generous. I also enjoyed the German flights as well!"
"The pretzel is great. Be sure to get the cheese. The chicken schnitzel sliders and the pork shank are also really good. I would skip the loaded tots. More than anything they were too salty."
"Went here for the first time in years! The place got a full make over prior to the pandemic and it is beautiful inside and much bigger then I remember. I was there for an event, so we had buffet lunch, but the variety was great and overall the food was good. I will be back to try the regular menu for sure."
