"Let’s start with the food. For context, I am Indian, grew up eating Indian food. The food is forgettable, bland, nothing to write home about. Not terrible, but certainly not the best and definitely not worth the TERRIBLE service. Let’s get into it! My toddler has never been charged to eat at a buffet. We’ve gone to dozens over the years and have never once been charged for his plate. We never make him a plate, rather we typically will give him a piece of bread or a spoon of rice and split our dessert with him. Today of all days he decides he wants to try the chicken so we put the chicken on our plate, then got a spare plate and cut the 3 little pieces we gave him on it. I also put his piece of bread, a tablespoon of rice and a piece of potato on the plate. Just ate the chicken. The server only came to our table twice in the 30+ minutes we were there - once to drop off bread then a second time to tell us that if we come back again and put my kids food on a separate plate we’ll be charged the champagne buffet price for my kids meal. Neither of us even took the champagne our buffet meal came with, we opted for water. The server never asked how the food was, never checked in, never asked if we wanted more bread or water, and waited until the end to clear the plates once they were piled up. Spent the whole time on his phone. He was rude, so when I paid the bill and left NO TIP because the service was TERRIBLE (and made sure to write that so he was aware since he scattered like an ant once I asked for the check)he followed me out to our car and tried to argue with me about it. So unprofessional. I explained and he was so defensive, so I told him have a great day, got in the car and left. In this economy there are SO MANY better tasting buffets to go to. Which was clearly where everyone else seemed to be - place was practically empty the whole time we were eating! Definitely skip."
"Great food and service, owners are super nice and the meals are of good size. The full meal is recommended since it allows you to order many of the dishes in smaller size. Very much celiac friendly, almost all menu is gluten free."
"Great buffet, it is home cooked type of Indian food. What Indians traditionally eat on a daily basis. Very healthy and not much salt or oil in the food. Some people left reviews saying the food is bland, I understand what they’re saying but honestly this is what everyday Indian food is like. You can add the chutneys on top that are available in the buffet for free to enhance the taste. Lovely food and service and the salads are great too and so re the sweets"
"Worst food ever & the service was ok. We ordered papri chaat, chicken biryani, garlic naan, paneer tikka masala, kebab thali, and gulab jamun. Chicken biryani was like sweet rice with few chicken pieces. Garlic naan & Paneer tikka masala were ok, kebab thali was horrible, and gulab jamun was served cold. Would not recommend it to anyone."
"Recently, dining at New India's Oven in Venice Beach, LA was a pleasure. The owners were friendly and welcoming, and there was ample parking available. The food was delicious! Even without being an expert in Indian cuisine, it was clear that the flavors were spot on. The unique spices used in the dishes really added to the experience. Overall, it was a great experience. New India's Oven should definitely be visited by anyone looking for a tasty and authentic Indian meal, with friendly owners to make them feel at home."
