"I really like this place. They have every conceivable item you could think of when it comes to camping and outdoor gear. I'll say as with any other larger store the stuff in stock can be a bit overpriced, but generally you're going for the convenience of getting everything in one place."

"Makes me wonder? I walk in the place with: a REI Mt Rainier Jacket on, REI Merino wool socks, Merino wool shirt ($110.00), Teva Hiking Sandels, REI money pouch- all bought at this REI. I'm a spending "hello" REI customer ya think? I tried on some items and placed a garment I'm buying and one I'm replacing on top of a rack. Some White girl obviously not approving of my ilk walks by, with her nose up in the air. Next, (possibly related? You'll never know for sure in this town of cockroaches), clerk comes by: Sir, were you done with those?". You don't think I'm going to restock and reface the shelves and racks for you do you? especially at the age of 69 and very retired. I informed him: one, I was buying and the other was going into the dumpster, you'd probably resell it wouldn't you? It's like, why open your damn mouth at all- over nothing, you were trying to make into something? Total came to $259.86 Makes me wonder? It's not about race it's about Culture and Social Class. You can hug all the trees you want, this is dim witted, vacuous, white trash central- nothing superior about you."

"When I’m headed to REI, I am usually looking for shoes and have been able to find some great deals. They usually have clearance shoes and sometimes have shoes that people have returned for one reason or another at a discounted price. They have a variety of brands athletic shoes but not a huge selection of models for each brand. They have have a nice assortment of backpacks, jackets and camping gear. I got a great camping cot there. As far as clothes go, if you are in shape and fit you will find many options. Plus sizes? Not so much. The store has an open feeling and there is lots to buy. Quality is consistent, customer service- not as much. Clean bathrooms, lots of parking and great products."

"The workers here are very kind. Sheylene helped me pick some good shoes for work and was quick to answer my questions about insoles and cushioning. Omster was the person who rang me up and was super patient with me getting repeatedly distracted by more cool things near the register."

"We called this REI store in SLO to see if they had an item in stock. The lady that my son talked to said they did have 1 pair left, and he specified the brand and the width, which was the main reason for the call because we needed a 4E width. So I drove 40 miles to make it there before the store closed. We went in and to the shoe section, and the guy said we don't carry anything over 2E width. So I asked him why would one of the employees tell us that she found it and that there was only 1 pair left. I spoke to 3 of them back there, and they weren't too nice about it. Then I spoke to the sweet lady (Andrea) in the picture who went to the back and checked and then in the front and did the research. She was very apologetic and sincerely so. She also stated that whoever told us that on the phone should never have done that. I always appreciate it when staff are helpful and SINCERELY KIND about it. I can deal with that. I really dislike being treated like I was from the other 3 employees I spoke to first who just tried to brush me off. Thank you, Andrea, for your outstanding service!!!"
