"I’ve shopped at the Food 4 Less in Escondido for over 30 years. My mother used to shop there too. Currently I live across the street from them. Even though I live next to Stater Bros (before they closed) I still preferred to shop at Food 4 Less. I’m retired from the Grocery Industry so I don’t mind bagging my own groceries. I get along with all the cashiers and know most of them by name. Today, however, Marcela D. over charged me around $10! I was in 3 weeks ago and calculated $101.18 which came out to the exact charge at the register! Today as I was going through the checkout, the customer before me stated ‘You over charged me!’ I noticed that although I was suppose to pay around $57.00, the total came to $67.00. I looked over the receipt and didn’t find the discrepancy until I got home. I was charged $7.49 for something called ‘MMS PN SUP 18 080’. She may have also over charged me on some produce, but I was mostly concerned with being reimbursed for the $7.49. I’ve worked in Grocery, a charge like this doesn’t happen ‘accidentally’. When I told her she did it intentionally and that I wanted to speak to the manager, I had to say it several times before a manager was called. I showed the receipt to a couple of other cashiers prior to showing it to Marcela. No one knew what the charge could be for. When we bump into someone ‘accidentally’ we apologize. The facial expression and body language shows a sincere heartfelt apology. The same can be said of overcharging someone. I was very disappointed with the ‘manager’ Nick. He had to be a 3rd or 4th Manager as the actual Manager would have at least apologized. Instead he defended her! The only thing Marcela felt sorry about was that she was caught! And Nick only felt sorry for her because she was caught- twice in a row in fact. Marcela did not apologize to the customer in front of me that she ALSO overcharged. They are both corrupt and only care about making money for the company. Beware of Marcela, she intentionally overcharges and won’t apologize when she gets caught. One more note, the customer before me was Asian. Maybe she only overcharges those who aren’t Mexican??"
"Yesterday there was a lot of rotten fruit on display."
"There's a lot of things at Food for Less that's less than acceptable. Lots of seasoned meat, that means it's on its last go round. I bought the seafood salad to eat for dinner after a long day I felt that I should add more thing so I turned it out in a plate only to find rotten lettuce on the bottom. The whole thing was not edible, I was livid. Cheaper prices don't mean rotten food, was is it the demographics. Y'all should be ashamed to sell rotten food. I learned from a chef not to buy seasoned meat. Do better for your customers. I won't be back. In that area they have a wonderful market called Major Market. I was with someone who wanted to go here instead of there. I live too far to take that slime back."
"This is my regular store to shop at! I like the store because the staff is friendly and I always get good deals on good quality food here! I've been shopping at the store for 5+ years now. Tonight at 8:45 was the 1st time I've ever been truly disappointed in the store. There are 2 express lanes open and only one regular service lane. There are other employees who are working but walking around supposedly on break from what the head checker told me. The lines are extremely backed up and the answer that I got from the head checker (African American lady with white glasses) where the other cashiers were, she stated that they were on break and going to be back from break in 5 more minutes. It is now 30+ minutes later and they're not here! I'm truly disappointed in whoever is running Food-4-Less on Broadway in Escondido in the evening of August 07, 2020. The manager should be ashamed of themselves for treating the customers like this!"
