Reviews of Shah's Halal Food
"I never recommend this food truck to anyone. Today I was in Davis and felt very hungry. I searched on google for Halal restaurant near me. I found Shah’s Halal Foods which is located on 803 Russell Blvd. I went there and bought Lam and Chicken over rice. I ate the food and after an hour I got serious stomach aches. I don’t know what was wrong with the food. I had to go to the restroom afterwards."
"Always hits the spot; never misses! Simple food that taste great every time. I get the chicken over rice or mix over rice - Spicy with extra white sauce. PERFECT!"
"Best halal food. Have to go here whenever I pass by Davis. Have not found a place that's better. Each order comes with a soda or water bottle! I once asked what the white sauce is, and they told me ranch. I asked again on another day and they said tzatziki sauce."
"I've been having Shah's since 2011 when they first came to the UC Davis campus by the Silo. When they first started, a chicken over rice platter was $6.50. 10 Years later, prices increased to 10.00 before tax (see other reviewers). In one year prices, have risen to $12.75 (see my photo). All this would be fine if in that same time period food quality or service remained the same. Especially since 2020 or so, both have decreased. If you don't ask for a soda, they'll "forget" to ask you. I don't mind asking but before the current inflation got at of hand they'd still ask rather than hope you forget. I have no idea how businesses are suppose to survive with $6 gas and increasing wages and cost of everything. Paying $13.80 after tax for something I paid $6.50 with much better taste a decade ago is a hard sell for me. I've been toleraring the price increases because high energy prices affects everyone, but I think today's my final Shah's until prices come down. It was a good run, but I can't justify the cost for what you get anymore."
