"I have been a regular visitor here since its opening and can confidently say it offers some of the best sushi in the United States. The chef, Gen, not only impresses with his sushi-making skills but also with the ambiance he creates and his focus on healthy ingredients, among other commendable aspects. It’s a bit of a hidden gem, which means there’s a loyal clientele and a wonderful overall atmosphere. Reservations are essential. Make sure to book in advance and come hungry. That’s part of the etiquette of enjoying top-notch dining."
"I have been coming here monthly for the past three years and there's a reason I make the extra effort to come here frequently. The quality of fish supersedes other omakase joints, and the staff and chef are always a joy to be around. You must make a reservation in advance. Bar seating is more preferred as it's a more intimate experience with the fish and the chef. Three years have passed since my first experience here, and in each corresponding experience after the quality of food and service has stayed consistent. Come here for an unpretentious omakase experience where the staff welcome you as family."
"Had a wonderful evening at Sushi Chitose with an old friend. We happened on it by accident, but it turned out to be a worthy discovery. The food was excellent and followed traditional Japanese cuisine. You won't find fancy creations such as Dragon or Spider Rolls here, just well made, authentic sushi. The atmosphere was comfortable, and the staff were friendly, although the service was a bit slow due to only limited staff there that evening. We had the Toro, Salmon Skin, and Spicy Tuna, along with mushroom appetizer and soup. Prices are reasonable. Reservations are needed, and the place is small. I recommend!"
"NB: must make reservation in advance. Pretty good Omakase. It cost $75, and each of us got 11 pieces of nigiri, a crab hand roll, a choice of miso soup or fried shrimp head, and a very small scoop of sesame ice cream. There is no longer a "premium" vs "non premium" option. Just one Omakase. Loved the crab hand roll. Really liked the Japanese snapper and Toro. Shrimp was a bit cold and lacking in flavor. Didn't have strong feelings about the rest. In general , the quality of the rice was very high. It almost melts in your mouth. If I go back, I'd go a la carte. Omasake was a nice way to try a lot of different sushi, but tbh not sure it's not "worth" it if you're going with someone and are willing to share with each other. Sitting at the bar was nice, would recommend."
"Unassuming strip mall spot in the South Bay with delicious omakase. Came here for my sister’s birthday and called ahead to make a reservation (no online reservation system). There’s a small parking lot in the front. There’s a few tables and bar seating - the restaurant is pretty cozy. Credit cards are accepted. You have the option to order a La carte, but the omakase is well done and you get a good variety. They also do ask you whether you have any allergies so they can accommodate. They do serve alcohol. The hot green tea was good and they do give free refills. My favorite pieces were the salmon and a roll with a fish from Japan (skipjack?). The salmon roe on rice was surprisingly delicious (I was a bit apprehensive at first). My family also really liked the fish with uni and the scallops. They give you a choice of miso soup with shrimp or a fried shrimp head for one of the pieces. At the end of the meal, they give you a small scoop of black sesame ice cream. There was only one waitress so things moved a bit slowly, but she did her best and was super nice."
