Reviews of ACRE Kitchen and Bar
"Absolutely fantastic food and wait staff! We pretty much closed the place down because we were having so much fun talking to everyone. Even more important the food was phenomenal — we had amazing fried olives (don’t knock it until you try it — it was actually our favorite dish!), steak tartar, scallop, a soup, gnocchi, and rolls. The wine list was phenomenal as well — you can’t go wrong with the glasses or the bottles."
"This used to be Oliveto which was a lovely place. I have eaten here 4-5 times over 6-8 months now. I have a few thoughts: 1) service is slow. Some orders have taken 40-50 min to show up while it wasn’t that crowded. 2) the food is super hit and miss. Roles great, but for every very good -solid dishes there are one or two complete failures (awful chicken swimming in something that even the staff said was “eh”). 3) a recent evening I watched 4 “servers” just standing around for the first 25 minutes I was there three of them looked at me like “hey we should help that guy” I guess I was I in the bar area so maybe that makes sense?? Honestly it’s just unprofessional. Anyway. Hard to love, sort of like some of it. So barely 3 stars and I feel like that’s a stretch."
"We used to be regulars at Oliveto’s and got tired of their inconsistent food and service. I’ve been meaning to try Acre that take the spot of olivetos. I was expecting less but was so pleased how good it was. We went at 3 pm on a Sunday so the menu was limited to Bar items only. The French fries were excellent with the special ketchup and aioli sauce. I ordered the square focaccia tomato medley pizza with purple basil and my partner got the potato fontina round pizza. Both are really good. The service was attentive and not rushed. I’m so happy that this place is here. Can’t wait to try the restaurant upstairs."
"Overall vibe is awesome. Recommend getting a table upstairs! Acre has a fabulous selection of cocktails and wines. My go to was the Oak and Reed. Started off with the pullapart Rolls which were fresh, chewy, and paired with an incredible spiced butter. Can't miss the ceaser salad. Croutons were perfect. Star of the show was the Garlic Shrimp. They were tender, perfectly cooked, and smothered in a light flavorful garlic sauce. Do not, I repeat do not skip the bed of toast those shrimp are resting on. They soak up that sauce and are a true delicacy. Gnocchi and Lamb Sugo were also incredible. Overall elite dining experience. Highly recommend!"
"Acre was 5-star all the way for me! The food, ambiance, decor, and service were all incredible. Our server was warm and extremely knowledgable about both the food and drinks on the menu. I was impressed. The food itself was incredible. Highlights for me included the pull apart rolls, steak tartare, gnocchi (this in particular was exquisite!), lamb sugo, and tiramisu. They even had amazing french fries. The drinks, both cocktail and mocktail, were beautifully presented and very well made. The ambiance was soothing and modern, upscale but unpretentious. It was also fun to look out on bustling College Avenue from the upstairs where we were seated. I will absolutely return!"
