"Used to frequent this place when it first opened 10+ years ago. While their service at my recent visit was very friendly and fast, and the flavors decent; the quality of the meat was a big let down. I know it's not a butcher shop anymore but the chicken in the chicken sandwich was essentially just a big ol processed and deflated chicken nugget. I might also suggest that they change up the decor a bit. They still have pickles, canned fruit, and vegetables from when I assume the place opened over a decade ago gathering dust and rusting displayed in the shelf. I know canned fruits and veggies have a long shelf life but the state these jars are in is not very appetizing."

"Oh how the mighty have fallen. This used to be one of my favorite and most reliable restaurants in Oakland, but my wife and I went in last week and had a fried chicken sandwich that was super underwhelming. We noticed new management and congratulated them on the takeover, which is apparently recent. I decided to try again tonight, and had cheesesteak that barely resembles the glory that they used to serve here. It’s a sad day. At least the fries were still good"

"The Oakland cheesesteak was everything I needed. It’s a decent size and packed with flavor. I didn’t think I could eat the whole thing but I couldn’t stop eating lol. The meatballs on the kids menu was good and the portion size was good. We also ordered the Brussel sprouts no back and BAYYYBE! Best thing I had. It’s counter service so that was nice and it’s seems like a great place to be on a sunny day in Oakland because the restaurant is packed with natural lighting. So glad I finally came to this place after years of thinking it was a bar only."

"Local butcher + restaurant. We did not try the butcher so I can't judge that aspect of the business but we ate there. In short, the fries were really good and the meat excellent! The cheesesteak was a pleasure, cheesy and gooey with a very tasty mix of meat onions and shrooms inside. The burger was tasty and juicy. The staff was nice to us and helpful during the order."
