Macondo Colombian Fusion
About the Business
Macondo Colombian Fusion is a restaurant located at 1545 Webster Street, Alameda, California, United States. This institution started as a catering company over a decade ago, serving offices all over the Bay Area with fresh, house-made Arepas, Empanadas, and other Latin-inspired dishes. After the pandemic and the shift to remote work, Macondo decided to open a location where their cuisine could be shared with everyone.
At Macondo Colombian Fusion, the food is the heart and soul of the establishment. They pride themselves on serving Colombian-inspired cuisine made with the freshest ingredients, with their Arepas being a standout menu item. In addition to dining in, Macondo also offers catering services for those who want to enjoy their delicious food at their events.
The restaurant's name is inspired by the fictional town of Macondo in Gabriel García Márquez's novel, One Hundred Years of Solitude. The yellow butterflies in their logo symbolize happiness, love, and imagination, which are reflected in each of their dishes.
Some of the mouthwatering options on their menu include Arepas topped with mushrooms and chicken, cheesy Birria with pickled red onion, slow-cooked brisket with aioli green cabbage, and much more. Whether you're craving meat or vegetarian options, Macondo Colombian Fusion has something for everyone to enjoy. Come and experience the taste of Colombia at Macondo Colombian Fusion - where every bite is filled with love and creativity.

"Incredible food. I ordered online and it came hot and fresh. Got many different things and they were all artfully done, full of flavor and integrity. I could feel the love"
"This place will leave you speechless asking for more! Fresh Chicken, Fresh Beef, spices on everything was superb. Started off with the Arepa’s: Colombianisimo: pulled brisket w/ hogao cooked to perfection in between a masa formed pocket with cheese and house sauce.(this was the favorite) Birria Arepa: slow cooked beef w/ pickled carrots. The beef was some of the best Birria meat I have ever tasted! Empanadas: Chicken/Beef were both good but I would choose the chicken because of the sauce that it was paired with.(game changers) Dessert: Arepa de cholco con queso, I wish I had someone making these on call. Like nothing I’ve had before and will be returning for more Authentic Colombian food here in the Bay Area is very hard to find but look no further this gem is a must try. The only thing this place needs but doesn’t is a small bar style seating or a couple tables(4 max)"
"My wife picked up the food and it was such a pleasant surprise. I really like arepas to begin with so I'm biased. But they were amazing. Got pulled pork, chicken, cheese and quesabirria. The birria won without a fight. Giving it five stars for that alone. The others were still very good! I would snack on the cheese ones all day if I could afford it. Will go back!"
"I love that there’s an empanadas place in Alameda now. Unfortunately I didn’t get to try them this time. I got the Alegria Combo which is two arepas, salad, and a drink. Got the banh mi and pulled pork bbq arepas. Both were super delicious. I definitely have to come back to try the empanadas."
