"I’ve ordered takeout and have dined in. The food here is solid for a casual dinner or lunch. I especially liked the Lazi Chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and Jade fried rice - but you really can’t go wrong. The fried chicken sandwich is the perfect amount of crisp, heat, and a touch of sweet. The only gripe I have is that the restaurant is very cold (maybe a draft or air circulation?) so it’s not very comfortable to sit for long."
"Let’s start by saying that I am Chinese and have been eating Chinese food in San Francisco my whole life. Brandon Jew has really knocked it out of the ballpark with the Manahuhu concept. Fast, delicious, affordable, and modern takes on Cantonese classics. The Jade rice and Chrysanthemum salad were standouts for me. The mapo tofu with pork tastes authentic. The hot and sour soup was clean tasting. The “must try” sweet and sour chicken wasn’t my fav but I don’t tend to go for those Americanized Chinese dishes. I’d love to see more - a black bean dish, a fish dish, and a salt and pepper porkchop would be great additions. Can’t wait to go back and try more. Not a lot of tables at this location so takeout might be best."
"Best chicken sandwiches I've had in SF. So good that I'm torn between sharing it with everyone or gate-keeping it to myself. Spicy Sichuan sauce combined with mayo and crispy flavorful chicken thigh makes for THE perfect chicken sandwich combo. We also got the mapo tofu which was pretty decent, but the chicken sandwich blew my socks off."
"Mamahuhu is definitely still dealing with growing pains as a newer restaurant but the food quality is excellent as is the service. I was very excited to try Mamahuhu because it is from the chef at Mr. Jius and while it couldn’t be a more different experience than that restaurant, I will be back frequently. All the food was very flavorful and the fried rice was some of the best fried rice ive ever had. We went at opening and ordered both fried chicken sandwiches only to be told they were sold out after ordering - however we were able to easily replace them with other more expensive chicken items at no up charge (the right thing to do from a customer service perspective). The food also came out a little slow, but not crazy slow and so we were offered free dessert too (which was fantastic). There are many places that make worse mistakes than this and do not make it right so they get bonus points for that attention to customer service. Looking forward to trying the sandwiches on our next visit!"
