"Ordered the Thai fried rice and it was one of the best I’ve ever had!!! Loved the brown rice they used. Full of veggies and shrimp"
"Let me start by saying the food here is 10000/10. I got the drunken noodles and the black sticky rice with coconut ice cream and wow I drool just thinking of the dessert. The only reason I give this place a 4.7 is because for the prize, the portion wasn't that big. The sparking sake was also amazing great, I got a big bottle for about $15 which filled up my glass twice. My server was very friendly and immediately greeted me when I came. The restaurant itself is in a beautiful area in midtown so I'd recommend this spot for solo dining or coming with friends and family. Very comfortable and pretty."
"I eat here when I have time. The plates can range in how they look from day to day. Like the fresh spring rolls with shrimp. There are some pictures that look way better than my plate, but they could be out of some garnishes. I get the yellow curry meal but make it green cause I like the taste of their green curry. They have outdoor, indoor, and a second story. The view of j Street is never that appealing, but you'll probably see the crazy homeless that stalk the corner parking lot of Chicago fire from the second floor. The outside area plants give a nice block and they take you away from the street view. It's not really fun for me when I go alone. I don't really like to people watch, but if that's your thing there are always people around. They have art and statues you can look and wonder about, so it's not all bad."
"Service is great. Food was great, and a lot of dishes coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. Lots of vegetables and great colors. Portions of main entrees are a bit small for the price, but the flavor is good. Pad-thai is a bit on the sour side. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. They have lunch specials. Parking on J St is paid parking Mon-Sat, but you can usually find free parking on the numbered streets."
"Had a great time at Thai Basil. It was my first time and I thought the menu had a nice blend of Thai staples, but also a pretty impressive specials list. I had salmon cakes, and they were much tastier than I was expecting. I had the fried rolls, too, which come with a nice sauce, and I tried the mango sticky rice and fried banana with ube ice cream for dessert. The portion sizes were reasonable and the price and service on point! I'll definitely go back."
