Reviews of Rubio's Coastal Grill
"Nearly every time I have gone or ordered from Rubio's something has been not right. From missing items or just wrong order but more times than I can count... I have ordered and paid for the 'especial' tacos and served the regular tacos. This time again. When ordering especial. I was asked 'You mean the fish tacos'? I mean especial taco plate. I was charged for the especial fish taco plate but when I got home and opened the big box. There were 2 regular fish tacos. Nothing else! No bean No rice No chips. And the crispy taco shells, gone! I was left with 2 tortillas and both were RAW! The pieces of fish were about 2 inches in length. Not sure how any place can screw it up that often and as much as they do. Different locations also. One of the questions above being the atmosphere. In all the years of going here I have never seen more than 2 tables occupied and eating. People will wait for orders at tables but not eat there. I know I have never stayed and eaten there. Uninviting as you can get. I'm not doing the cap on Rubio's. Just wish Rubio's would pick a lane. If you're fast food. Get a drive thru. If you're a restaurant. Get some real chairs and tables. Maybe a piece of art. Stay away from the cafeteria looks. Be consistent!!"
"Come in on Tuesday night to try Fish Tacos and the place was packed. Lots of people hanging around waiting to pickup their online orders. Most of tables had been occupied. After being seated we had to wait about 25' for our food. The fish was crunchy and tasted really good. The salsa bar also offer many choices of sauce that is a plus. Next time we'll check in early to avoid the rush."
"I ordered take out for my family from Rubio's and overall we thought the food was too spicy, not very good, and barely warm. I ordered online, got there about 5 minutes before the food was supposed to be ready and it was a little late and we ate the food within 10 minutes of it coming out and it was still barely warm. They were fairly busy as they were running a promotion for a local high school which I think is fantastic by the way. Restaurant was mostly clean, one of the employees was scrambling to clean the tables. The staff was friendly and the manager came out to the folks in line to politely tell them they were running late which I also thought was great."
"This is a high end fast food place. The menu has a lot of originality and this place has a lot of promise. The staff is friendly. The facility is clean and neat. We had a shockingly long wait for our food. The food was not as good as we were led to believe. I got the original fish tacos and they simply are battered fish with taco shells wrapped around them and a little more to dress it up. We expected something more. So we are in no hurry to return to Rubio's."
"This was my first time at Rubio's. I decided to go with the Crispy Chicken street tacos. The sauce was a little odd. The chicken was sparse. The beans were bland. The chips were terrible. The presentation for a to-go street taco meal needs some work. As for value, there are several Mexican restaurants within blocks that are a much better value with better food."
