Reviews of Ketch Grill & Taps
"Every time I think of San Diego I'm reminded of the beautiful weather and the hours spent outside. The Ketch is the perfect place to enjoy the weather, some good food and delicious in house brews. We had the steak flat bread and buffalo cauliflower. Both had a unique flavor that was great, but my favorite was the pairing of the Clear Conditions Hard Seltzer - a cucumber lime seltzer drink with no sugar and low carbs, a surprising addition to a healthy lifestyle."
"I recently had the opportunity to visit a restaurant with a breathtaking view and outdoor seating. The restaurant had a charming atmosphere, with its open-air dining and beautiful surroundings. However, I must express my disappointment with my experience, particularly during cold and rainy weather. The major downside of this restaurant is that, despite its outdoor seating, the patios do not provide any coverage from the rain. Therefore, dining there during inclement weather was uncomfortable and inconvenient. It's important to note that this review is specifically for those looking to dine outside during such conditions. Now, let's talk about the food. I opted for the spicy chicken sandwich and, unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. It lacked the distinct flavors I was hoping for and was excessively crispy, to the point where it became quite difficult to chew. On the bright side, the accompanying fries were quite good, offering a delicious and satisfying side dish. The children's chicken tenders were a disappointment as well. They were dry and lacked the juiciness one would hope for in such a dish. However, to my surprise, the fries that came with the kid's meal were delicious and undoubtedly the highlight of their dining experience. On a more positive note, I must mention that the pastrami sandwich was a hit. It boasted a harmonious blend of flavors, leaving me thoroughly satisfied. The pastrami was tender and well-seasoned. In conclusion, this restaurant offers a beautiful view and outdoor dining, which would likely be enjoyable in fair weather conditions. However, it falls short in terms of providing a pleasant experience during cold and rainy weather, as the patios lack the necessary coverage. The food, unfortunately, left much to be desired. While the pastrami sandwich was a standout, the spicy chicken sandwich and the children's chicken tenders did not meet expectations. If you're looking for a meal with an exceptional view during good weather, this place might be worth a visit."
"Decided to check out Portside Pier & ended up at Ketch Grill & Taps. I tried a hibiscus kombucha that was ON POINT & the Ketch salmon salad. I had a great view close to the bar. They also have happy hour."
"The food is just average—sandwich, fries, pretty much typical American cuisine, and it didn't impress me. However, the view is definitely worth the visit. The highlight is the big bubble, which adds a cool and memorable element to the overall experience!"
"This place had wonderful food and great service. The view is incredible. We got to see an old pirate ship. I even got to see fake Cannon fire. Also the bartender was super friendly and so was the server. Order the salad with salmon which was decent. Not the best I've ever had but wonderful after a long day of walking in the seaport. Wonderful experience. Definitely a go-to in this area if you need food and I would return."
