Blue Ocean / Harumama

"I cannot express the fact that you must visit this spot enough. The food, atmosphere, and service is fantastic! I went for a late lunch on a week day, and avoided the rush lunch, so I was able to be seated by their large windows overlooking the ocean, and the seal beach. This is where California sea lions and harbor seals rest and it is so beautiful. I got their lunch special bento box, which included their teriyaki chicken, rice, salad, and California rolls (but they are customizable). Delicious and super fresh. Their character buns are the star of the show! I tried the chicken (chicken, onion, and mozzarella) and the bunnies for dessert (nutella). Almost too cute to eat but they were fluffy and so yummy."

"Make sure to ask for a window seat! Great views of La Jolla cove from the top. You’ll get to see the sea lions sun bathing as you eat. We had the salmon and eel nigiri for appetizers and the teriyaki salmon for the entree. It came out in a sizzling hot cast iron pan. The food was super filling and a relatively decent price for La Jolla. It was not too crowded on a Wednesday night. We didn’t make reservations and got a window seat. However on weekends I would recommend placing a reservation most likely."

"Great ocean views, came for lunch when it wasn't busy but service was slow. Food was delicious, definitely get sushi and the character buns!"

"Great view. Great service. If You're making reservation, ask for window. The rolls were fine, they all seem to be missing something tho. Seaweed salad was good. Nice sake choices. They had tamari available for gluten free people."

"I was pleasantly surprised with how beautiful this location is, both inside and out. The restaurant decor was elegant beachy, if that’s a thing, haha! The menu had so many great options from mocktails, small bites, ramen, to sushi and so much more, there’s literally something for everyone. To start I tried one of their passion fruit “refreshers”, which apparently has rotating flavors. The drink was so pretty and taste fantastic! I’d definitely reorder! For food we sampled a few things: 1) Fried rice: this dish was average and lacking flavor in my opinion 2) Steamed veggie potstickers: these were great and had a nice presentation 3) Vegetable pan-fried noodles: full of flavor and craveable 4) Hotty Hotty roll: this roll delivered on what it promised, however it didn’t wow me Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely be back to try more items on the menu."
