"I would definitely come back for that texture- and flavor-filled Egg Salad Sando, but that rice plate I got was all right. The sando was not worth $12 ($13 if you order through a food delivery app). Employees were definitely pretty friendly and got me my food way earlier than GrubHub anticipated. The employee who gave me my food was accommodating on whether I was going to eat inside or not, so I like the consideration. As for the ambience, one thing that jarred me was that I thought this restaurant was going to have Japanese people running the restaurant from the cooks to the register people, but it wasn't. Not that that's a bad thing. With a name like Cafe Okawari, I was thinking it would be more authentic. They just serve nice, trendy Japanese food. It looked clean and quaint, though!"
"I’ve gone to this place for Matcha / Hojicha lattes for the better part of a year at a pace of 3 times a week. The friendly cashiers at this point recognize me as I drive to bring a new coworker to the cafe each time. The drinks and food here are very consistaby and tasty: a little slice of Japanese home cooking in the middle of SOMA. It’s hard to say that I recommend everything on the menu with a straight face, but I will attempt to do so. I’ve had virtually every item on the menu and it’s all consistently good. Highlights: Chicken Katsu Curry (pictured), the hojicha and matcha lattes (pictured), the sandwiches (not pictured- I recommend the menchi katsu as very few places in the US even attempts it)."
"Enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The good was excellent particularly the chicken and bread components. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a solid sando. The prices are a bit high but this is par for the course. Check them out"
"Came here on a Monday night and it wasn't too packed - it's got a super cute vibe on the inside too, feels very authentic. Good: - The chicken katsu sando blew my mind! It was so so good and it was so juicy and the portion size was great - I felt like I got a lot of food even when I had just that one entree. It's also super aesthetic. - The food comes super fast! Bad: - Very casual, serve yourself type of place! Overall this place was a really nice hidden gem, tucked in a convenient location and easy to get to."
