"Deliscious food. All the sides are made without meat or animal broth-exciting for vegetarians! I tried the Mac n cheese, the yams greens, cabbage, and cornbread. All great, but the cabbage and yams stood out the most! I tried a vanilla cake that was sooooo bomb.. It's not too sweet and a big hunk! And the yummiest sweet potato pie that uniquely had a Graham cracker crust! The service was friendly and kind. They brought me a cup of water with my meal without having to ask. My suns loved the Mac n cheese and cornbread, too! I liked that the cornbread isn't sweet I like a savory cornbread more than a sweet one. The greens were great too- but I like to have more of the pot liquor (juice) in mine.. I will ask them for it next time.. I bet they'll hook it up!! Overall, I am very pleased with them! I would also recommend then to add a veggie plate to the menu... like pick three or four sides with cornbread for a set plate price because I did have to order everything separately, but it was still reasonably priced for what we got!"

"Welp, I was really excited to try this place, but sadly it did not live up to expectations. I ordered a fried chicken plate with greens, mac and cheese and potato salad. None of the food had much flavor. You’d think it wasn’t a black owned spot tbh. In the pic, you can tell the mac is short on pepper and it probably wasn’t seasoned with anything else . The chicken was pretty dry and I could not get through it. The greens were doused in salt, and the potato salad was nothing but potatoes and mayonnaise smh. I’ve had some store bought potato salad with more flavor. Price was decent for the amount of food but I definitely have no desire to come back."

"DELICIOUS SOUL!I had the opportunity about 2 weeks ago to venture to R Kitchen, located in Lakewood, California. It was most certainly worth the trip. The food was freshly made. I order the fried Chicken Wings(4) along with Collard Greens, Mac and Cheese and Black Eyed Peas. The portion sizes were very good. I actually enjoyed my entree for lunch and dinner, which was great. The food is seasoned well, the food is fresh, delicious and most certainly homemade. The waitstaff is very friendly and helpful with your ordering. R Kitchen has a diverse menu of options to select and the dessert, which are made fresh look so delicious; although I didn't try it - Maybe next time! If you're in the Lakewood, California area or just looking for a good home-cooked soul food restaurant - Definitely try R Kitchen, you will not be disappointed - Until next time!"

"Fried chicken dinner w/ collard greens, green beans, and mac n cheese. Add side of gravy. Everything had really good flavor but oh man was everything salty from the first bite. I would love the food if they dialed it back on the salt. I typically prefer salty savory but this was a bit much. The gravy was meh but was suprisingly the least salty thing after the cornbread. Service was nice and place looked clean."
