"Terrific atmosphere at this place. The staff, however, is rude, immature, and ignorant. When I attempted to drink and eat here, the boardwalk was quite crowded, as it generally is on a Sunday afternoon. When me and my friend walked through the door, they told us that we could not park our bikes by the entrance. That's fine had they'd been our bikes. But we were clearly walking and it was quite obvious that we did not have bikes. But we overlooked it and went inside and sat at a table. So we waited and waited and waited until finally we decided to sit at the bar where maybe they'd notice us. Mind you, this place was only about a quarter full compacity with multiple employees We sat for another 5 minutes or so and finally one of the staff members walked past us and took another person's order. Okay that's fine. So when he's done serving that customer, he'd get our order right? NOPE, he walked back and forth like it was some sort of game or something that he was playing with us. He was being deliberately disrespectful toward us. And you know what? If that staff member represents the culture of their business, I know that the owners won't even acknowledge this review that I am leaving. Overall, I really thought that this was going to be a terrific experience. The atmosphere was very neat and the happy hour deal that they had offered seemed too good to be true. And as it turns out, it was because we never had the opportunity to experience it."
"Extremely overpriced (it’s LA - on Venice beach boardwalk), it’s loud (see above), service is bad (see above), but even still- it’s sort of a vibe. I love the nachos there. Margarita Flavors are very hit or miss. Each small margarita is $15 and but you get 2 cups of it when it’s happy hour."
"We went there at 3pm on a weekday so definitely low traffic. So service was fine, laid back, but attentive. Our server definitely checked on us plenty of times. Great deal on social mimosas, aka bottle of sparkling wine and a cup of OJ and mix as you wish. Light snack, I had the chicken taquitos and he had the baja bowl. Lots of cheese on the bowl, he ended up pushing most to the side. Rice and beans and veggies was lovely. Taquitos we’re perfect. Good amount of guacamole and lettuce and pico de gallo perfectly light for lunch in the sun. So wanted the loaded fiesta fries but knew it would be too much. The place is great, just tacky enough… in a good way. Oh music was awesome. For those days when you want the most famous tunes in a place that’s touristy but good. Perfect for a not-too-hot Venice beach day. Oh and we took long enough that we entered happy hour so topped off with 2 for 1 coronas. Tacky and classic all the way."
"TLDR: look elsewhere for tasty tacos. Good: marg variety, feels like a decent HH deal. Loaded fries were tasty while hot, definitely split with 3+ ppl tho Bad: service, tacos Went for happyhour on a Wednesday. Sat out front. So the HH is 2 for 1, and apparently CA liquor laws are v strict: in order to offer such a deal, both drinks must be served at the same time. I was unaware of this, so when my server asked if i wanted two singles or a double, i asked for singles, thinking he would bring out one at a time. I was very sad to see him bring both out, watching the ice melt in my second drink as i sipped the first. I wish he had mentioned this when i ordered - wouldve just done the double. Coconut marg was tasty tho! Foodwise, the surf n turf tacos i got were OK, though not served with lime to squeeze? Thought that was standard. Also the salsa tasted like it came from grocery store / can, not very tasty or authentic-feeling. My GFs fish tacos were not very good, and in fact seemed like they may have been undercooked. Finally, after he brought our food, the waiter completely disappeared - had to ask someone else for the check. Overall, not the best experience all-around = will probably head back to the Whaler or other new spots when craving fish tacos!"
