"Small breakfast spot. Parking sucks. It's very small inside. More staff than people. LGBTQ friendly. Over priced for sure. We ordered small basic sides. Hash browns were okay. Didn't really taste like potatoes. Hubby ordered biscuits & gravy which he thought was good, I thought the gravy was a lil sweet and not normal. Food could be better, a lot better. Especially price wise. I'm no chef but I feel as though I cook better than what I just ate and paid for."
"Great food! Cooked to perfection. Got the Apple cinnamon French toast and western omelette. Service was great, very attentive and quick."
"Crest Cafe is a cute little diner in Hillcrest gayborhood of San Diego. I will admit it was my second choice after my first had a long weight, but still being a little sick, I was pleased with the comfort food provided. On a Sunday night, it looked like they only had one staff member on the floor. So, it took him some time to attend to all the customers, but he was very nice. I was not in a hurry. The menu has a lot of options, as any good diner would, but I had zeroed in on the “Not Your Grandma’s Chicken Pot Pie” before I even arrived. So, that is what I ordered with coffee and a water. The pot pie came with a salad, which was well made, and the basil vinaigrette I chose was very good. The pot pie lived up to the name with a pretty spicy white wine sauce and red bell peppers to give you kind if a chicken mushroom soup base. The crust was flakey and delicious. I cleaned my plate."
"This diner provided a very mediocre experience. As someone not from the area, I was a bit shocked at how much a quick stop for breakfast cost me. To start, you have to find parking, which is all paid and costs $6 per hour. The restaurant does not reimburse for this, but they will give you $1 off your bill (if you have the receipt on you). I walked in, and was immediately greeted with the familiar diner smell, and nothing else. I signed in and stood at the entrance for 5 minutes before someone asked if I’d been helped, I replied I hadn’t, and they walked away. Someone else finally came over a bit later to seat me. Once I was seated, service was very quick and friendly. I ordered the hangover omelette with hash browns and sliced tomatoes as my sides. The food came very quickly and looked delicious, but was lacking in flavor. Definitely not worth the $18 (not including tip) price tag. Things to note: The entire menu is available all day. Menu is not allergy friendly."
"We went for breakfast. It is a smaller old fashioned looking dinner with both indoor and outdoor seating. We split a vegetarian omelet with added spinach. Of course you have to get the hash browns. The service was great. The food came out quick, hot, and already split on two plates (nice touch). This is one of good breakfast places in the area."
